I mean yeah he was kinda a douche during the first 2 seasons, but from his flashback in Outlaws, you figure out why he is. He also overcomes his debauchery and becomes a true hero as well.

This guy in pretty much any movie he's played in, minus a few exceptions. I think Scorcese made him sign a DB clause for any time he was in one of his films.

Personally I hated Sawyer when I first watched Season 1, but he became one of my favorites after the episode "Outlaws". He feels as if the Island should be his punishment for his life of sin (especially when he killed a man in cold blood), so his actions during the first two seasons make sense.
