Better Call Saul is better than Breaking Bad

It just is. All the main characters in BB were either inherently awful or turned into awful people (with the exception of Hank). Not only are the characters in BCS more likable, their story arcs are more fascinating to watch. It's a slower burn that relies more on role development than physical action to move the plot. The interplay between Jimmy and his brother, and Nacho and his dad excellent, while any scene with Gus or Mike is must see tv.
Vince Gilligan was great in BB but his story-telling abilities in BCS are simply amazing now.

This season has been fantastic

It’s easy to say that after knowing what you know from BB. If BCS came out 1st, I don’t think you’d feel the same way. I love both, though, no need to choose.

I wish that my wife would rewatch Saul as much as she rewatches Breaking Bad.

Easily the worst part of the first few seasons. Nacho, Mike, and Gus were the only reasons to watch. The Jimmy stuff has gotten better now than he's gone full blown Saul mode and with Chuck out of the way.

This.
I love BCS. But I can’t put it above Breaking Bad yet

BB was always super over rated with a lot of cheesy lame story lines. BCS is superior.

Walt’s transformation into a monster is where the greatness of the show comes from. A show about lovable drug dealers isn’t winning any awards/creating spinoffs. This is just the new “I want to sound cool” hot take.

And I say that as a big Saul fan

It’s great. Really great. But it has to land the plane before this conversation can really be had.

Better Call Saul feels like the Mad Men of the Gilligan universe but it's frankly flat compared to BB.
BB had a tension and spark to it...Better Call Saul is fine story-telling but unlike Mad Men's slow burn, it's episodes can be dull. Mad Men had stand-alone episodes in the overall story arc...it wasn't just always inching toward something. It just doesn't have memorable episodes beyond the slow-burn story that you have to stick with...there's also not enough characters frankly.
And sometimes you're left asking:
Who cares? About any of these people or what is going on. Walt and Gus had gravitas. Don and Peggy too.
I didn't give a shite that Saul's bro was a total dickhead and that storyline lasted two years.
The writing may be better like Mad Men had better writing than Breaking Bad but it's just not as entertaining.

Disagree. I love the show but so much of the series is forgettable. Its so unnecessary for this show to have 6 seasons when so little ever happens
you only need to watch like 5 or 6 episodes to get the picture of what's happening in the series

Terrible take. Gus is the worst part of BCS. He's almost cartoonish in a lot of his scenes
