It is amazing how much story is packed into the Breaking Bad Pilot. From introducing the characters, Hank in the DEA, to Walt's job as a teacher and working at the car wash, his cancer, to cooking meth and all the way down to Junior getting his fricking breakfast

I'm a Shield cheerleader, I know, but the ending of the pilot will blow you away.
Breaking Bad- the pilot was superb and definitely left me wanting more.

FNL had a great pilot I must admit.
1. Miami Vice (But if you remember, when Miami Vice hit the TV - you were like WTF is this? It was like Scarface on TV - the pilot episode was incredible and so far ahead of regular old cop shows like Hill Street Blues and Cagney & Lacy.)
2. Twin Peaks
3. FNL
4. Breaking Bad
5. Veronica Mars

I got hooked instantly from the pilot on. I remember just getting back from a 2 month stint in Cali, laying on my bed flipping channels after Family Guy and saw a "up next premiere episode" commercial for BB, watched the pilot and from the first scene on I was already drawn in.
I really liked the pilot on Lost but the series spiraled into blah for me, with BB the pilot set up all the awesomeness to come.

This is a tough one for me. Those of you saying The Office, do you mean the real one or The American one? I was a big fan of the American Office, but it was one of the worst pilot episodes I've ever seen for a show I liked. It was a way less funny copy of the real Office.

The Shield and Nip/Tuck. For as shitty as Nip/Tick became the pilot was really well done.
