My company recently appointed a coordinator specifically for them and we have work on 3 of their rigs, when we were previously on zero... You may be alright.
Been there, frick that. The room is full of clowns too. Everywhere but the bathroom. I slept in the tub.

My ex had one. Took forever to get up to 60, don't think we every made it to 70. frick that car. I'd rather drive a lawn mower or golf cart.

If Cheston and Brandon can do it, I think odds are great it's a job that can be learned..

There are 200 people on my rig. Not everyone is performing the same job. Roustabout, yeah pretty much anyone can be trained for that. Catering crew, sure. The more technical positions? Not quite.

Anyone can be trained to do just about any blue collar job, some pan-out, some don't. O&G isn't exclusive.

There is a lot more to this field than chasing cranes. Anyone can come out here and do this job. That's why we're all paid so little, because it's so easy to find qualified candidates.. wait, this all started because we're "overpaid". If anyone could do it, the term "run off" wouldn't exist.

not that they can't train just about anyone to do the work.

Easy to say that when you don't work in this field.

holy fricking shite! uneducated people are capable of learning it but educated people aren't?

The point I'm trying to make is that going to college doesn't necessarily mean you're more intelligent than the "oilfield trash" or that you're more capable than the people working in the field. My relief and I only have a high school education. We're the supervisors. The guys working under us all have degrees and are under a huge pile of debt due to student loans.

I think getting a $60,000-$70,000 starting salary out of high school that becomes a $150,000 - $200,000 salary within 10 years without student loan debts is a pretty smart idea, wouldn't you?

What should people that work a dangerous job for 12 hour days in the elements all while sleeping in bunkbeds away from their families for weeks at a time make? What is the average wage they should make?

Not only are we away from our families, but we learn skills specific to our field. Any Joe Blow off the street can't replace a 5 year plus oil field hand. It's a lot more technical and takes a lot more intelligence than anyone gives it credit. I've seen a lot of "educated" people come out here and do an absolutely terrible job, I've also seen them be confused by some of the equations the "oilfield trash" can do on the fly without a calculator.

I've got a Day One and it has been pretty perfect... until yesterday. Apparently my Kinect isn't working, it's saying it isn't plugged in, when it clearly is. Unfortunately I'm offshore and my wife is terrible at electronics so I can't troubleshoot shite. She can't even find settings without the Kinect.

re: finally saw John Wick

I think the best part about John Wick was the fact that Keanu got his arse kicked. Repeatedly. Usually the hero will take a punch here and there and that's it.
Throw it all on an SD card. Can't remember if the 920 has expandable memory though.... I just did a hard reset on my 1520, pulled the memory card first and afterwards when I opened music it synced it. I have Windows 10 Insider Preview, but it shouldn't make a difference.
I've been running the insider preview since day one and the new start menu is niiiiiice. Ran into my first major bug today, WiFi is basically broken on my phone and you have to manually reconnect to hidden networks on PC (Surface Pro 2). Other than that it runs pretty smooth for the most part, just a few minor annoyances here and there that they're fixing slowly but surely.
Pacific Drilling (PACD) down 11% today to $2.84. Major buyout target in ultra deepwater drilling.
Bachman Explained

I know this is super late, but I just randomly happened on this article and King answers the question himself.

Seriously, don't worry about page count.

You're comparing Dumas to King? King is going to read FAR faster.

I've read every single short story, and book he's done (except Mr. Mercedes, starting that one soon) and this is the best place to start. If you're in it for the long haul I recommend reading as much of his works as possible before you move onto the Dark Tower. A lot of them tie-in to it, even if it's just minor nods to the books, it's cool to catch them.
You've spent a lot of time thinking about this.... but Nintendo should hire you. Should be more to offer in Hyrule (I'm biased, Zelda is my favorite game franchise) but everything else is perfect. Especially the Pokemon portion!
