Joe Turner: I'd like to go back to New York.
Joubert: You have not much future there. It will happen this way. You may be walking. Maybe the first sunny day of the spring. And a car will slow beside you, and a door will open, and someone you know, maybe even trust, will get out of the car. And he will smile, a becoming smile. But he will leave open the door of the car and offer to give you a lift.

I'm going old school here. My favorites are:
"Three Days of the Condor"
"The Marathon Man"
As for newer stuff.
I really liked "Argo" and "Skyfall" (heck...there are only a few James Bond movies I didn't care for).

Stylistically I loved 3 Days of the Condor. The plot however was minimal.

To me, From Russia With Love was the best bond movie and a top 5 spy movie of all time
Agreed. OHMSS is imo the only other bond masterpiece but less of a spy movie for the purposes of this thread.

The whole time you're wondering why he's being pursued and the explanation - the whole conspiracy - was rather thin in my opinion. Of course like most movies from that era the whole thing is really cloaked in post-watergate paranoia and suspicion (which I appreciated), and you can argue the nuts and bolts of the plot was ancillary to that air of distrust and cynicism. I just found the explanation of why they were trying to kill him to be pretty weak.

Oh. I never felt any of that.

I really enjoyed the recent AMC six-parter "The Night Manager". I'll give it a "best" rating because it was well cast, a great plot, and was well directed.

My serious answer is Man from UNCLE. What a fun movie. Or Kingsman.

Great spy flick.

I really liked The Good Shephard. Never saw Tinker Taylor...maybe I will.
