I always like to mention Alias in these threads. One of my all time favorites and absolutely hooked me immediately.

Combine that with Lost and even Felicity and Abrams has to be considered the GOAT at grabbing an audience with his introductions to his stories.

Shield or LOST for me

BB was good and is my fav series of all time, but think the other two are much better pilots.

Eastbound and down Pilot is one of the funniest things Id ever seen at the time.At the end when he High fives the Janitors and they say "Where the frick is he going? Its only first period". Then cut to him on the jet ski-Fantastic

The Shield

(ETA: I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Clark Johnson directed the pilot and finale of both The Shield AND The Wire, which puts him in the running for GOAT television director, just based on those 4 episodes.)

"But on that glorious day in May 1963, Gordo Cooper went higher, farther, and faster than any other American. Twenty-two complete orbits around the world, he was the last American ever to go into space alone. And for a brief moment, Gordo Cooper became the greatest pilot anyone had ever seen!"
