Well if House of 1000 Corpses makes the cut than you need to add

The Devil's Rejects

Just finished watching it on Netflix because of this post...Wow, why did I not see this before. It was freakin awesome and I think most horror movies are just plain crap. I would probably add it to my short list above after seeing it for the first time.

This is correct.

The Ring is grossly overrated. The chick coming out of the TV was the opposite of scary.

Because the correct answer is Drag Me to Hell

Because it wasn't very good?

No, seriously, the first Saw just had too many twists and turns for me. I didn't care for it. Didn't care for 28 Days Later, either.

My vote is for Let the Right One In. Even the American version is better than any other horror films I've seen since 2000.

I've never seen Drag Me to Hell with the exception of the ending, nor have I seen The Strangers. As for Cabin in the Woods, isn't that the one where that big hand comes up at the end? I thought that was lame.

And to whoever said The Mist
One of the worst endings in film history.

I also heard that High Tension had a really lame ending.

I have a hard time categorizing this as a horror movie. A horror movie has an intent to frighten its audience.

I actually walked out of the theater when I went to see that...

Was it bc it was too scary?
Or was it bc it was too lame?

Ill leave it up to the reader.

Agree. We left the theater after about 30 minutes. Why? It was a "tween" horror.

Really? I think it is the single most terrifying scene I've ever seen. Creepy as all hell, and moments after the most harrowing line of the film, "Why would you do that? She never sleeps."

Perhaps the single best twist in a horror movie. It felt earned, and not a gimmick. It was a legitimate, organic twist which changed my perspective of the whole film

I love Let the Right One In, I just don't view it as a horror movie.

My list:

The Ring
28 Days Later
The Descent
The Strangers

i've seen a couple of 28 days later picks, but to me 28 weeks later was even better. That scene where everybody is stuck in the dark and the virus spreads through everybody, freaking intense

Drag Me to Hell shouldn't be in this discussion due to Justin Long.

Torture porn and slash gore are movies for idiots and Hollywood seems to want to cater to that. The US makes crap Horror flicks.

Check out these foreign flicks - the best since 2000.

3. Them - France
2. The Orphanage - Guillermo del Toro (Spain)
1. Pulse (Kairo) - Japan
