Do you mean Best Movies ABOUT High School or Best Movies with High School as the main setting? These are two different things, and your list really does neither.

Regardless, Breaskfast Club should clearly be in it.

Also, does American Beauty count as a high school movie? Lots of high school characters, and setting, but I guess it wasnt really about high school?

I took it be about high school movies early on but

quote:

Back to the Future

Makes it hard to tell. While HS was the backdrop it clearly followed a different story arc then others on the list.

List is tainted IMO. Time to re do.

I agree I said this earlier but the OP will shoot it down.

He needs to be more specific in his OP.

Donnie Darko, Hoosiers, and Risky Business aren't "High School movies".

Wrong. Follows classic HS story archetypes. The time travel is what makes it look like not a HS movie but it is. The sequels are not.

Good call. As well as:
Weird Science
Risky Business
Can't Buy Me Love
The Karate Kid
3 O'Clock High - Buddy fricking Revelle

Heathers blew and should be off that list. Donnie Darko doesn't fit that list either. Otherwise, great thread.

Forgot about License to Drive! Clueless was good, but I think it would have to be on a different list.

What about The Lost Boys?

Back to the Future
The Hollywood Knights
Weird Science
Breakfast Club
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Fast Times
Can't Buy Me Love
3 O'clock High
Sixteen Candles
Red Dawn

Here's my list in no particular order. Breakfast Club would be #1 though. This is my pre-90's list. Need a new thread for 90's and above.

There is a debate. Depends on when you grew up. I think AP and Superbad are really funny but as a kid who grew up and loved the 80's flicks, I would say WS is as good or better. All opinion.
