After some reflection, I am not ready to abandon all hope. I WILL see MOS2 despite this casting decision and, perhaps, Affleck will prove all of the naysayers wrong.
Of course, this is also a possibility - Affleck is Bruce Wayne/Batman will have a complete mask and no part of his face will be visible

I think I might be in the minority when I say that I'm not needing a Daniel Day Lewis level actor to play Batman.
The name that was most intriguing to me was Joe Manganiello...guy from True Blood. Really smart guy, loves comics, obviously has the physicality to play the role etc. He's stuck in contract with HBO doing True Blood though.
No, I don't think you need Shakesperian actors to do this. I don't know much about that guy. I've seen him on True Blood when I've been flipping channels but that's it. Didn't realize he was into comics and all of that. Might not have been bad. Didn't they want an older guy to play Batman though?

Well I just lost all interest in this movie. Will not see. Next superhero movie?

I looked it up and it says Affleck is 6'4. I assume he will put on some weight for this role also.
No idea he was that tall. I was still picturing more massive though, but I'm open to it.
Why does it even matter how big/tall he is????? The cameras can make anyone look tall/big.

So now batman will have a fake Boston accent. Yay.

He was actually in talks to play Superman but decided to stick with HBO. That was a dumbass decision. He could've made millions more looking like this....

Lack of actor continuity is usually not good for any movie series but given the Bale has apparently refused the gig, I really can't think of a better choice than Affleck. I can easily see him as Bruce Wayne but not sure about the Batman role.

Honestly, other than playing Flash Thompson in Toby Spiderman, I've never seen the guy in anything.

Didn't realize he was into comics and all of that.
He was podcasted on The Nerdist back in the spring and he went into this huge story about what a comic book nerd he was growing up, going into all sorts of detail. Said he had stolen some huge amount of comics as a kid and went home as an adult and returned them all the the same store and paid for them. He mentioned that he was really interested in playing comic book roles, but that he was locked into contract with HBO and couldn't. Also mentioned that he was already in talks to bring a comic book character to the big screen when the contract was over but didn't say which one.

Yeah, but he is older than Cavil and is 37 now.

Affleck isn't old enough either if this thing is really based on the Dark Knight Returns comics

Ugh, I just noticed that Snyder is actually writing the script.
Might want to come down off that acid trip. David Goyer is writing the script.

Because you can't get a shot like this with a Batman played by Michael Keaton or even Christian Bale.
Sure, it can be shot in such a way as to give the appearance of size, but they've yet to even bother. They just stick an average size guy in a bat suit and call it a day.
I realize it's a small nit to pick, but I'd really love to see a Batman that truly towers over most people.

*Sigh*
It's not based on The Dark Knight Returns. They just happened to read a passage from The Dark Knight Returns when they announced the two would be in a movie together. They wanted to show 1) It was a Superman/Batman movie and 2) Batman and Superman were probably not going to get along (at least at first).
