I just started it and want to like it, but damn Will and Carlton are straight punks so far.

it will be tough to watch due to knowing how great the classic was

Carlton is a whole villain

One episode in. Nothing really spoilerish other than character development basically available in the trailer:
No one is as quite as “lovable” as the original.
The attempt, I think, is to make them all more like “real people.”
Jury is out on Carlton- I think the actor is good, but I’m not enjoying the character so far.
The actor playing Will is pretty impressive. The guy playing Phil is pretty great, too.
I’m interested to see where it goes, but to not have a straight-laced Carlton and to have real contention between them from the onset is a very new perspective. Uncle Phil seems much more stern and possibly even scary.
I’ll watch the season.

I've seen all 3 episodes. Interesting so far.
Quick non-spoiler take: it's amazing how much happens over the course of only a few days. Hell that first 24-36 hours alone.

So this is basically the dramatic version of The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air? Why not just just write an original script? What does the connection do other than disappoint fans of the original? I hate Will Smith but even i can admit he was funny and fun in that show.

It was a comedy
Now it’s a drama
Now it’s a drama

I finally was able to watch the three episodes and I like the show. I know a lot of people don’t care for it but I like the realness of the show. I’m glad they didn’t try to recycle this as another comedy. The original show and cast was a classic and they can never be touch in redoing the show. I also like that it is an hour long instead of a 30 minute episode. So far I’m loving the show and can’t wait to see the next episode.

New episode came out today. Geoffrey role in the show is a lot better than what it was in the original show.

I will definitely be watching that tonight!

well, i thought i'd hate it. while watching i wanted to hate it. but i'll be watching the newest episode. as far as carlton being a villain. maybe this is their way of introducing him as he and Will develop their relationship.

For some reason I cannot make myself want to watch this at all. Like 0 interest.

We’re binging it this weekend. The first 1-2 episodes were tough. I hated Carlton and the Will/Carlton dynamic, but it gets toned back some in the later episodes. I’ve enjoyed it so far through 6 episodes

The guy who plays Carlton is a good actor but he's supposed to be 16ish?
The guy is bald. Or has the biggest forehead in history.
Great group of actors. I don't care for the politics shoved in there like every aspect of our life now but they are at least trying to be independent somewhat. They're not glaring far left even though they do go there a bit.
Overall the show has sucked me in. I agree with a post above.
Simply put, Original: Comedy, New one: Drama.

100% told my wife that after the house/pool party episode.
Down to Uncle Phil and Caleb going to the same acting school where they’re taught to deliver every scene with that dead fish look.
Fine as frog hair Kirsten and Aunt Viv live out LA Housewives drama plots while drinking cab.
Layer Phantom Planet over the credits and it’s almost a spin-off.
And speaking of music, Jazz is here to connect the audience with underground artists that you’ll recognize on Billboard charts by the end of the season.
It’s the same damn show!

So this show is basically an answer to the question: What if classic 90s TV shows Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Beverely Hills 90210 had a baby.
I wonder what other shows we could do that with. I want to see the Law & Order version of Night Court. Or the X-files version of ALF.
