They've had flamethrowing drones before and they were pretty terrible. Haven't watched the episodes from this week yet though. But I remember from a season or two ago that the flying drone flamethrowers were super disappointing.

Like the show, it can be very entertaining seeing grown arse people try and build a machine and destroy someone else's toy. The dude that announces the contestants can disappear, he's terrible with the cheesy intros.

I’m watching now. Just watched the Kraken vs. Black Dragon fight and I’ve never seen a show to where at least one of the judges get it wrong almost every time. The girl judge every season is awful and literally picks the wrong bot every time. And the judges got this bout wrong too. Kraken controlled that fight and lost.

Both vertical and horizontal spinners are incredible but yesterday I learned 2 separate horizontal spinner bots is not the way to go.

Judges chose Beta over Rotator which was the completely wrong decision again. What the frick is going on with the judges?

I thought Beta owned that fight. Rotator got basically one good (lucky) hit in and did nothing else. Beta pushed it around for all but like 20 seconds of that fight. Complete control and plenty of solid hits dished out.

I think it comes down to if you score it on "feel" which Beta won or you score it via the new scoring standard which quite arguably Rotator prevailed on.
Beta never once deployed their primary weapon for all we know it was non-functional the entire fight.
Beta's hammer head was literally broken in half during the fight.
I think scored "correctly" using this year's rules it is hard to support a Beta win but on feel it was certainly a Beta win.

Beta controlled it mostly by pushing Rotator around. But I disagree with you completely about damage. Rotator took almost none. And as mentioned, Beta not only didn’t use its primary weapon a single time, but also lost that weapon from a shot by Rotator.
Pushing a robot around and into the walls shouldn’t get you a win. Especially with the latter two points mentioned above. Not even a little bit. I knew as soon as it was a split decision who was going to win. And it sucks. And everybody there thought the same thing, even Beta’s crew.
