As a middle stage Gen Xer, this was my favorite show aside from Speed Racer.
I didn't know most of this, only that it was originally Gatchaman series out of Japan.

Loved it growing up, got the whole run of Gatchaman on DVD when they translated the whole thing about 15+ years ago.

Speed Racer & Jonny Quest were my favorites…but I’ve never even heard of this one.

Speed Racer, Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion all preceded Battle of the Planets. What made this one different was the syndication success on the heels of Star Wars

My little brother loved the G-Force re-localized bastardization that Cartoon Network ran with in the 90s. When the proper BOTP box set came out on DVD, I had to educate him.

The two-parter where Princess gets eaten by one of the carnivorous plant pods and leaves off on a cliffhanger always messed with me until the next episode aired, even though I knew how it ended.
BOTP came on at 6am on channel 46 here is n Atlanta, so for a few years it was a before school ritual, not after.

I lived in Dubai for the first 5 year of my life. I watch Battle of Planets as the original Gatchaman. I had no idea what was going on, but I loved it.
It wasn't until I moved back to the States that I was able to watch the English dub.
The only episode that stuck out for me was when Princess was eaten by a plant. I was so worried about how she would get out. I never saw the resolution to that story.

Zoltar being a cross dresser was news to me. I vaguely recall his "sister", but that's crazy.
