how did you get that from that post?

he said he disagrees the destruction was unavoidable and that Superman shouldve showed empathy about the destruction and couldve avoided it. its the same argument thats run rampant here.

I was sort of on your side if you were one of the people who argued a more complex, if flawed, Superman is perfectly acceptable. Like I said before I think it is desirable if you want an interesting movie.

For you to only focus on the comment about unnecessary damage and ignore both that and me liking the movie on the balance just says you have to have someone in complete agreement with everything you say or you'll act like a jerk

how do you react like you do and think the other person is the one getting mad? If you're still mad at Freux because he disagrees with some things you say that's fine but maybe you should take a time out

And I think it's somewhat sad that we find "goodness" uninteresting.

I think people usually just present it poorly. A pop culture movie doesn't naturally devolve into an outright discussion of Kant but it would make sense to show some complexity of human emotion.

But look at the "Why do television writers make us like villains?"

People like liking villains!?! That's crazy. I hate when I like villains as protagonists. I love the Shield, but part of that love was hating Vic Mackey, that was the best part of the show.

But liking that I liked Vic Mackey or cheering for him? I'd feel kind of gross.

So while I agree, I think people actually like villains, nay WANT to like villains and I find that strange and sad.

But does complexity have to involve bad intentions or malice? Is that the only kind of complexity to be had?

in part because we all fantasize about doing things which are bad? while simultaneously applauding people who uphold order in real life.

paraphrasing Mark Twain, Hell is where we might like to go because the company would be much more interesting.

Not IMO. the complexity of why people do "good" things or "bad" things is interesting. The Kant reference was directed more at the question of whether "good" actions are truly selfless and therefore completely "good". I think that's also an interesting question for the comic book genre and probably one that most ideologues should ask themselves

You may want to skip Batman V Superman then.

I've been noticing the same thing. I've been tempted to jump in to defend his honor a few times but then I realized that Freaux has them all exactly where he wants them.
