Well, Superman just got finished taking an atomic bomb and was weaker than usual, so I can buy it in that set of circumstances.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing a comic book with this scene could be looked at as the worst thing that ever happened to Batman: LINK

It just took the "Batman Quotient" to ridiculous levels. Some writers since have brought it back down to earth though.
I get what you are saying. It doesn't make Batman a bad character, but it makes many conversations about Batman really crappy.

I read the first few pages before I lost interest in the back and forth exchanges but I would disagree with people who are completely intolerant of any character flaws, anger, imperfection, etc in the Superman character.
Does anyone remember how much the Star Trek Next Generation series sucked before Gene Roddenberry died? And the reason why? IMO is is the same reason a completely flawless Superman is uninteresting... because we generally find drama in the absence of human emotions uninteresting.
I enjoyed the Superman MOS effort. I liked what they did overall with the movie character with the exception of his indifference to some destruction and risk to human life that he should have avoided (even if he is not yet perfecto, moral, adult Superman he should still have enough empathy for loss of life to make it more of a priority). I have read the opinions of others who believe he could not have easily avoided this as the movie was written. I respectfully disagree, based on how the movie played out he would have behaved differently in that way. If you wish to write a post disagreeing on this point then go ahead, i'll do my best to resist the urge to debate further.
Still, I liked the movie. It had style and tried to do something more interesting and watchable than what I was afraid they would do with maybe the most iconic fictional character of the 20th century. The casting was also good, it is good for Superman to look like Superman and the lead fits the part in every way other than not being Christopher Reeve's son.

thanks for drumming up an argument thats been beaten to death and since been moved on from.

It's my fault.
I need to stop bumping this damn thread.

It was a little uncalled for. But you are both good people.
It's just that a few of us have bashed heads more than a few times on those very points.
Any Man of Steel/Superman thread eventually calls into question the debate about the 2013 film because:

There are two very good sides to this.
And I think it's somewhat sad that we find "goodness" uninteresting.
My big problem with this thread was the first page and a half or so, that's why I jumped in.

Did you read his post? He's actually on your side. He's saying that arguments about an "all good/flawless" Superman are not based in complexity/quality of the character.

how did you get that from that post?
he said he disagrees the destruction was unavoidable and that Superman shouldve showed empathy about the destruction and couldve avoided it. its the same argument thats run rampant here.

I meant the stated intolerance for people wanting a perfect Superman, not the destruction, which to me is the much more important argument.

so he agrees with some of what i said but disagrees with others. my problem isnt with the opinions. my thing was we have moved past that and actually got to discussing the title of this thread instead of being stuck on MoS.

This is an asynchronous message board, it happens.

I actually never said anything about not liking you because I don't know you. it does however seem clear that you were randomly and unnecessarily rude to me for no real reason. whatever the reason it is also seems inconsistent since I didn't see you pop in to shush anyone in the any number of pages in which people went back and forth like children.
whatever the reason it seems like your problem, not mine so...
please note, i have no idea if you are a bitch in real life or just on the internet

I riled up BnG over the last few days. He and I went tit for tat in the DC thread until like 1am. Just for clarification.
