Finale spoilers...ye be warned...

The biopic was right on point. Netflix vibe to it. Fuches with the cannon! Finally did the deed himself. Had to rewatch the stand-off a few times to see everything. Feel a little sad for Gene. All-in-all a very good series with some great characters.

Still not clear on what was going on with Sally. Why did she see/experience some of the things she saw this season (the intruder, cop with the bleeding eye) etc…?

Don't hate the ending....just feel it seemed rushed

I liked it but with a lot of these shows having finales, or even season finales, this weekend, I guess could be foreseeing the writer's strike and trying to just finish? Trying to move on from covid era shows that got thrown off their timeline to a degree?

Either way, what do we have to look forward to next with HBO? Alaskan true detective?

guilt/pressure. She regretted going with Barry and was looking for a way out but was afraid Barry would kill her.

The only thing that I felt was a bit rushed was Noho Hank. I was hoping he would have a funny line or two in this episode. The ending was great though. I don’t feel sorry for Gene at all. He was an absolute slime ball.

I would have liked to see Sally put the flowers on Barry’s grave but then we find out about Arlington

The fact that Barry got portrayed as a hero and that's how people will remember him is hilarious. Especially since Sally knows everything

I was really holding out hope for a NoHo Hank spin-off series.

I appreciate the show staying true to itself in the finale.

Sally was a selfish piece of shite incapable of love. At the end the son says "I love you" and all she cared to ask about was whether the play was good. She, Barry, and Gene never changed throughout the whole show and I think there was brilliance in how they demonstrated that.

The top is cut off, but Rip apparently called Gene "Couscous". And I love that he had his secretary type it

I agree with the general sentiment: the last season was a bit too meta for my liking. Didn't mind it being darker, but could have used more humor. It's tough to balance the two, though. Overall, really liked the finale and the 4th season in general.

And everyone's outcome was pretty redemption based:
-Noho gets pissed off, cancels the deal, and starts to engage with Fuches's crew. Dies.
-Gene gets revenge on Barry, gets completely screwed and goes to prison for a crime that he didn't commit.
-Barry decides to make the right choice at the last second, but it's too late. Dies, but goes down a hero.
-Fuches wants to calm things down once he meets Barry's kid. Protects him when the bullets start flying. Survives and gets a pretty fire arse house out of it.

Poor Barry might have been in the clear if he showed up to Gene's a few minutes later. If Gene commits suicide, then Barry and Sally are the only ones that tell the cops that Gene didn't manipulate Barry. I guess Fuches as well, but I doubt that he's interested in getting involved.

I feel like the finale went back to its roots, a ridiculous gun fight standoff were pretty much everybody is killed and showing the reactions to it. Barry’s death being very anticlimactic makes a lot of sense. Then Sally running away tracks 100%, and whole thing with the movie portraying Gene as the bad guy and Barry ending up being a hero buried in Arlington is just hilarious, it reminds us that at the end of the day the show is a comedy.

I laughed out loud at the guy throwing the hand grenade.

My take exactly.

Gene couldn't leave well enough alone and, as per usual, shot himself in the foot by killing barry, who was going to turn himself in.

Barry, who just wanted to get out of the life and away from the problems he created, finally admitted to himself there was no way out and was finally going to come clean about everything for his son, and OH WOW!, again having the rug yanked out from under him. But Barry hated Gene more than he loved his son because he could have stayed home and nothing would have happened.

Sally was a selfish POS and now, even if its directing high school plays(?) has that thing that is the only thing that can make her feel validated, some type of fame. Meanwhile, she couldn't care less about her son.

They were all who they were and being that created the outcomes they got.

I didn't even see it happen. I only saw the few remaining Fuches guys panicking and getting blown up.

Hader has a really interesting way of directing action scenes. He doesn't bother cutting to close ups (or even zooming in with a continuous shot) of important things happening. He just keeps the wide shot going and you have to keep a close eye on everything. He did the same during Noho's attack on Fuches last episode, as well as in the lengthy GTA style interstate/car dealership chase last season. I like it, especially compared to the typical Jason Bourne style camera cut every 1 or 2 seconds. But they do require multiple re-watches to get a full understanding.

I also like that nobody is a victim of circumstance. Every single one of them, Barry, Fuches, Sally, NoHo, Gene. They all had a way out, a few like Gene and Fuches had actually gotten out better off, (Fuches in Chechnya and Gene in Israel), and every single one of them willingly got back in

Wasn’t a big fan of the finale or the final season for that matter. It went from being a dark comedy to just being dark and weird with a little comedy mixed in.

I thought it was a brilliant finale to an incredible show that's hampered a bit by an up-and-down final season. Similar to Mad Men.

Finale was a lot of "meh" but there were some definite bright spots during this final season.
