I have no interest in spending money to see either of these films

Gf wants to see Barbie, so it’ll be that next Tuesday

They are pairing them together to mask how MI is blowing them out of the water and screwing up the “narrative”

What do you mean “what”?

Top Gun blew everyone away and made Hollywood look stupid because every time a movie they made failed it they claimed “MUH Covid”, “MUH racism”

Another Cruise movie comes out and they force him to release it in direct competition which is the opposite of what most studios do

Then, with little hype, compared to the weird combined hype of “BarbieHeimer”, MI rakes in 235 million dollars and is said to “have underperformed” meanwhile Barbie and Oppenheimer are being touted as successes even before they drop by COMBINING expected totals that don’t even surpass MI

heck, if we wanna play that game Mission Sound of Freedom made 330 million dollars!!!!

use your brain man.

You're about to sound foolish when Barbie blows by MI. MI is going to do less than Fallout, it's completely disappearing already in China. Look Up some data before saying nonsense. Barbie's about to do over 300 mil OW

quote:

#MissionImpossible  #DeadReckoning Part1 will lose more than 90% of screenings on 2nd Firday compare to opening Fri, our local blockbusters & dark horses crush it completely with no mercy

total will barely cross ?300M / $42M, only 1/4 of Fallout

You realize you are arguing MY point here right?

Had MI been placed on the week it was meant to, it wouldn’t be forced out of screenings by two movies releasing at the same time. The studios are forcing it lose screens when it is telling theaters WHAT to play.

In no way is 235 million opening weekend “underperforming” relative to other movies in the last 3 years unless you are comparing it to Top Gun.

If you think placing the MI opening movie the week before these films was Cruise’s idea and is best for the performance of the movie or that studios aren’t METICULOUS on their placement of opening weekends, you’re delusional

You do realize Cruise owns his own production company and bigger studios can’t have him continuing to outperform their “message” based movies

A world where a 2 hour PG-13 family movie has a better opening than a 3 hour R rated historical film?

Yeah...that's just simple math and a a basic understanding of how the box office works. Barbie is a more accessible movie than Oppenheimer. Kids can see it without adult supervision.

Paramount dropped the ball badly here, IMO. They must've thought Barbenheimer would be no competition against MI. They should've opened it at least a week earlier. They're losing all premium screens this weekend.

It was moved several times and not because the studio was forcing anything. It was moved due to COVID protocols that Cruise was in full support of. You’re pushing a false narrative to suit your agenda.

quote:

The release of the seventh Mission: Impossible movie is a long time coming. Mission: Impossible — Fallout was released in 2018 and the hope was that the next movie would follow quickly on its heels with a July 2020 release. However, in the early days of the pandemic it was moved from that July 2020 date to December 2020, only for it to be moved again to November 19, 2021, then to May 27, 2022, and then again to Sept. 30, 2022, before it was finally shifted to its 2023 summer blockbuster date.

quote:

Part of the reason for the delays was the challenges of doing production during the pandemic. Production was shut down multiple times, first at the beginning of the pandemic and then again in 2021 when there were cases among the crew. At one point during production, Cruise was captured on audio criticizing crew members for not following COVID safety protocols.
