I've seen this series many times over. Started watching it again this week. Currently on episode 8. I don't there has ever been a more captivating and intriguing series on television.

May be just personal preference, but it's by far my favortie tv show/movie

My late father-in-law was in that group. He followed right behind the front line soldiers in a jeep that kept all the supplies, bullets, food, and gasoline for the tanks and trucks. He was in charge of supplying and dispersing everything forward. For 2 years he lived, ate, and slept in his jeep. That movie is true according to him. He saw it and bought the books before he died. Great movie, all segments, loved them.

One of my Uncles was a Half-track guy with Patton and I ended up with his war mementos, including a Bronze Star.

I laughed at the scene where Spears is mailing out his loot because another item is a box of Nazi silverware.

One of my favorite scenes is when Sobel is talking to winters and the group about the can of peaches.

That and when Spears overhears the men talking about the time he killed all those Pow's, then offers them cigs

Your father in law was Jimmy Fallon?

That's pretty cool.

BoB wasn't as good as people make it out to be, and the pacific isn't as awful as people make it out to be

Band of Brothers is great and I loved it, just saying I don't think it's a masterpiece. It dragged in spots

Watched it for the first time this past summer after getting ahold of an HBO account. Tremendous show.

Just finished episode 10.

Everytime I watch this series through, it's just as good as the last.

They do a phenomenal job of making you feel as if you are a part of the company.

I can't imagine going through what they went through, and just all of a sudden leaving one another for regular life.

Brilliant show.

ETA: The Pacific isn't bad. First time I watched it, it was underwhelming. But after the 2nd, I appreciated it for what it was.

However, it just didn't seem to captivate me as a viewer like BoB did. It didn't seem to convey that same bond that the guys in BoB shared.

The battle scenes were good but the rest belonged on Cinemax after 10 P.M. It was a HUGE letdown.

BoB was very meh.

Watched the series once, don't need to ever again.

Not terrible, but nowhere as good as people over-rate it.

I like the series but I concur that's it is not the Cinematic Christ people make it out to be.

This thread is fidna to turn degenerate, tho...

I think The Pacific gets better after a second viewing. It also helps to read some of the books the series is based on.

The biggest problem I had with the Pacific was trying to figure out who was who; almost every character was "dark haired Italian guy."

And SNAFU was the GOAT

My favorite, as well. The thing that always gets me is when they interview the real men from Easy Company... Those were some damn fine men. I couldn't imagine going through a winter like they did in Bastogne.

BoB is the GOAT imo.

Agree Pacific was kind of a let-down. Characters werent as likeable or developed. And there wasnt much plot, just killing and more killing. Kinda depressing really, but i guess thats a reflection on the actual history.

I wish they'd done a 10 part mini series on the book Unbroken to show the Pacific theatre. The book was so awesome i knew a 2 hour movie could never do it justice.
