Doc Brown may have hit it on the nose when he wildly guessed that there was a problem with Earth’s gravitational pull in the future, because there’s something off in Hollywood in 2018. We’ve had an influx of remakes and reboots of well-known and little-known franchises, all for the sake of nostalgia. But for some reason, we’re clamoring for more. A new poll reveals that the next movie franchise remake that audiences want is Back to the Future. That, and a slew of other titles like The Matrix and The Hunger Games, because we can’t ever let things die. See the results of the franchise remake poll below.

The Marty role will be a woman and doc will be a person of color.

Boom, theres your "new" back to the future.

In all seriousness, I know they've resisted any remakes, those who own the rights. I would put the chances at a remake very very very low.

Jesus. Yeah mankind better off than basically any point in history by essentially any metric but it’s so godamned bleak and dystopian. Sorry for hijack but what lazy fricking writing.

Also BTTF is sacred to me. Would almost be like them remaking jaws.

Why try to remake something that was already perfection?

It portrays Iranians as terrorists and that is mean. There is also too many white people in it.

I am kidding above, they would really remake it because it would be easy money and Hollywood is seriously out of ideas.

There are only so many stories to be told and variations of them. We will keep getting movies, but mainstream originality is dying. The new stories being told will be more niche and not have mass appeal.

I'm sharpening my shank as soon as I log off.

Someone is getting stabbed before this ever happens. Trust.

Biff will still be a white guy though.

Oh and Marty will be renamed Marcia (pronounced Mar-see-a) and Marty’s Mom will still be a hot mom that finds her own future daughter attractive. It’ll be the ultimate subversion of all things traditional.

Spit balling here, what kind of car would they use to make the time machine? Assuming they don't use a Delorian (which I think they should).

You cannot remake The Matrix. Keanu made that movie. He's irreplaceable.

Which sucks. The Matrix was great. Part 2 and 3 could have been so much more. Keanu was perfect for the role.

It’s not the roles you should be worried about. It’s the time machine. And there’s no modern car that can do it justice more than a heavily modified de lorean.

What if it’s the dad instead?

HW has been doing remakes, endless sequels, and adaptations of other works since the beginning. Sometimes directors like Hitchcock even remade their own movies. Why does every always act like this is new?
