Review: Despite Plenty Of Nits To Be Picked, #AvengersEndgame (2019) Is A Fitting Finale To Marvel's Infinity Saga (Review) via @forbes by @ScottMendelson

Warts and all, #AvengersEndgame absolutely sticks the landing

quote:

Avengers: Endgame does its job and keeps its head held high. It works both as a somewhat stand-alone movie (my daughter hasn’t seen very many of these and only had a few in-movie questions) and as a season finale/series finale of the MCU up to this point. No, it’s not the best of anything in terms of the Marvel franchise, but it is a fine and satisfying finale for what’s come. There’s plenty of fan service, most of it earned, and it is rarely less than entertaining. It doesn’t make a ton of internal sense, suffers from narrative claustrophobia and the action leaves a little to be desired. However, it works on its own terms and unquestionably sticks the landing.

Pulled a 100 on Metacritic from Richard Roeper:

They saved maybe the best for the end.

I’m not prepared to instantly label “Avengers: Endgame” as the best of the 23 Marvel Universe movies to date, but it’s a serious contender for the crown and it’s the undisputed champion when it comes to emotional punch.

This dude pretty much gives every comic book movie a 3/5

Endgame 3/5
Shazam 3/5
Ant-man and the wasp 3/5
Venom 3/5
Aquaman 3/5
Infinity War 3/5
Deadpool 2 3/5
Black Panther 3/5
Split 3/5

He probably just copies and pastes.

Oh noz, first negative is up from a 'Globe and Mail'

[T]he entire endeavour loses any sense of emotional stakes or general meaning beyond the deliverance of crass fan-service and incomprehensible visuals.

It's behind a paywall so you can be 100% sure it's negative click bait.

Feel like every review is saying the CGI is lacking

A lot of critics are programmed to hate CGI automatically which is funny because the blockbusters they bend over backwards to praise for using practical effects (looking at Mad Max:Fury Road), have just as much if not more CGI than every other blockbuster out there.

Quite a few reviews are hinting (and some are outright saying) that this film will be divisive like The Last Jedi.

This is total conjecture, but I could see them
thinking that if several beloved characters are killed off

Screencrush gave it an 8/10.

Mostly spoiler free review.

There are nits to pick about some of the ins and outs of the Avengers’ plan, and I doubt I will be the only one who found it odd that this movie openly mocks a film it then proceeds to steal from for the next hour or so. Still, Avengers: Endgame largely delivers exactly what its audience wants: Huge setpieces, massive stakes, inspirational speeches, the Avengers being ride-or-die besties, and emotional moments that may or may not have made me cry. (Okay, fine, made. I cried at least two times. [Okay, fine! More than two times. I’m not made of stone like the Thing!]) No matter what comes next from Marvel Studios, this Avengers is a gargantuan love letter to the equally enormous mythology that Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and the rest of their collaborators built — and to the generations of readers and moviegoers who truly believe in it.

I’ve just read the headlines from the reviews on RT, and I’m not getting that vibe at all. But I think people have been looking for some drummed up controversy for any film that comes out nowadays.

The only place I've heard about that was from people saying they read the leaks which turned out to be bs. And I'm not talking about the footage

The only controversy with TLJ is if you recognize that it is an absolutely terrible movie or not.

Verge review -

quote:

Much like Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it will inevitably anger some viewers, who won’t get the specific payoffs they wanted. And it’ll lose some viewers entirely, either through its tangled storylines, or its dedication to dark, sad emotions instead of the triumph that usually comes with superhero stories. But for a certain brand of fan, the ones that care about who these characters are, where they started, and what they’ve become over time, this is going to be an experience like nothing else they’ve seen onscreen. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has started a lot of studios down some dark roads, chasing franchise money at the expense of everything else. But at least Feige and his teams can say this: they’ve parlayed their successes into a chance to make movies that no one else could get away with making.

Yea, but movies like that usually blend it so its not really noticeable. Movies like Hobbs and Shaw coming out, you can tell its fake.

But these are the fans TLJ upset so the reviewer seems to have little idea as to what angered viewers.

In order for me to be as angry with this movie as I was in TLJ, Captain America will have to have become a depressed drunk, said that America deserved to have half his citizens wiped out due to colonialism, and then he kills himself on the shitter.

DUDE! The title specifically said NO SPOILERS. You just gave away a MAJOR plotline.
