I just watched Mr. Plinketts Titanic review and half the scenes are taken from previous Titanic movies - dialogue for dialogue...word for word...shot for shot.

E.T. is still #1 for most weeks as #1.

Top 10 is surprising; until you realize it's all 80's movies.

Beverely Hills Cop
Home Alone
Back to the Future
Ghostbusters
Crocodile Dundee
Good Morning Vietnam
Fatal Attraction
Porkys

Because people went to the movies in droves in the 80's. It was the Golden era.

So the author is probably right, won't see another box office hit like Titanic ever again because people aren't going to the movies like they did in the past.

I do. Rose was a stinking gross old whore who very gladly gave up on her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all in favor of that one time she fricked a hobo in the back of a car. Seriously, that jewel could have made everyone rich for generations, but that saggy tit skank just tosses it overboard without given a single frick? frick Rose!

And James Cameron bribed the MPAA enough money for their to be tits in there just so perverted teenagers would go there on dates repeatably.

More specifically, high school girls.

Go to Wikipedia and search like 2016 year in film - there are like 300 wide release films released in a given year now.

Go back to 97, or the 80's.....there's like 60.

Yep, a lot more choices these days

To me the most incredible thing about the success of Titanic was that everything seemed to be indicating it was going to be a Waterworld level flop before it released. It had numerous production delays mostly due to shooting on water, went far over budget in an era when $200m for a film was unheard of, and it was even bumped from a July 4th release to early December.

It's a great movie, its ridiculous that this board hates it so much.

It absolutely destroyed box office records and had a historic night at the Oscars, but nobody really talks about it anymore.

I haven't seen the movie since i had it on VHS, and I still reference it at least once a week.

ET and Raiders are perfect examples. It seemed like they were in the theater forever.

The shower scene has to be in the top 5 for hardest I've ever laughed at a movie.

The greatest what? Money maker? Sure.

Director? You've got to be kidding.

I'm not going to deny the scene is memorable and that they used that scene above all to sell the movie.

However, I'm not sure that's a top 3 funniest scene in the film, even. The lassie scene, the prank scene at the "brothel" and the scene in the principal's office where they're discussing how to identify the owner of the "penis" in your scene are all fantastic bits of comedy.

Ahh yea I forgot the brothel scene was from the first one. For some reason I was thinking that came from Porky's 2. The boys from Angel Beach trying to get laid always brought the laughs.

Now that I think about it, I usually disagree when people say a movie couldn't be made today but the Porky's series might actually qualify for that w/the amount of dick they were willing to show for gags. The current MPAA would be tearing their hair out and probably give them an X rating. (the first one especially)

It really is. And honestly, if you really hate the romantic stuff, you can fast forward to the iceburg hit and still have a solid 90 minute disaster movie to watch.

You know what's crazy? Cherry Forever (Susan Clark) was already married to Porky's brother (the sheriff, played by Alex Karras) IRL, when they made that film. Pretty much the next significant thing they did was Webster on television.

Possibly the funniest scene of the decade, outside of Caddyshack.
