I started a thread a few years ago (just went back and reread it) about how much better S4 is on a rewatch. I also got a chuckle in that thread when I mentioned there were talks about a S5 in the works...thread was started in 2015
I honeslty think the complexitiy and creativeness of S4 actually made it less enjoyable. If it just followed a "regular" storytelling model like 1-3 I think more people woudl have been on board. But the casual viewer's head was probably swimming trying to keep up with so many storylines, in different countries and different locations, for it to really hit the mark.

I admitted my problem was that I went into S4 with negative thoughts. I felt that it never should have even been made and 1-3 were perfectly fine and should have ended the series. Then we got the odd storytelling, and I was definitley put off. When I watched S4 a second time and just went in with no expectations or biases and just aimed to laugh and be entertained it was far more enjoyable.

I am always surprised when I see Michael Cera on screen these days. He somehow gets uglier by the year. He was a cute kid in the first run of this show, but he looked like a goblin in this trailer.

I only made it a couple of episodes into S4, before bailing. Just didn't do anything for me.
I'm in a re-watch of the entire series right now though, and plan on giving S4 another shot. Actually looking forward to it. About midway through S2 right now.
God I love this show and these characters.
