You mean Blackrock/vanguard/state street with their 40% DEI requirement for all companies they are the largest stakeholders of?

No, their other stockholders, who expect a return on their investment. They do exist and are the majority. What is Blackrock going to do? Sell off? They couldn't cause much more of a drop than the shitty movies and TV shows are already causing.

Mufasa is a great example. Movie is mid as hell, at best, and still made 700 million on a 35 mill opening

Mufasa completely changed the history of its characters. This is why I had no interest. They went from amazing Hamlet adaption to "white lions bad" in half a step.

Grimm Fairy Tales: Snow White is Snow White because the color of her skin is white as snow.

Revisionist Disney: Snow White is Snow White because she survived being in a snowstorm.

Maybe Dairy Queen should make a version and call her Blizzard.

Oh boy you are naive if you believe the public stockholders carry more sway than the big 3.

They can still sue them for making shite they knew would flop, maybe not in the beginning, but after a pattern of failure had been established, and repeated over and over again.

Lol nothing happened in the past 5 years that crashed the market or the entertainment industry at all, only Disney.

movies are in a rough spot.

people are selective

And people are more prone to wear their political ideologies in a very public way.

Think how many times SEK would've brought up a youtube video about how Disney is grooming kids for beastiality if Beauty and the Beast came out in 2025. Those same youtubers would've had a field day over the Lion King for that one scene where Nala and Simba clearly frick.

But because they came out in the early 90's when those people were children, the childhood nostalgia glosses over those weird scenarios.

Yep. People act like the industry has changed but mostly its just that they have changed to be more sensative to this stuff and once they start focusing on it they can't stop

The original Alien woulda been shite on by this board before it was even released for casting an Indian and close to 50% black characters despite them only making up 14% of the US population in the 80s

Pocahontas comes to mind as well.

2025 M/TV board would've destroyed that movie for vilifying the white man.

Movies like Terminator 2 and Kill Bill would've been hated on by many on this board. DEI movies!! Lol

Lol notice how your post got downvoted by madking but then no rebuttal.

They had no counterarguement so they will just wait and pick a diff thread to derail and rehash the same old argument

So back in the 90s, they were making all women's lib Ghostbusters? Casting black actors as - I dunno - Vito Corleone to make some kind of point? Shoving gay and trans characters awkwardly into nearly every new movie or series to hit the shelves?

No, it definitely changed. The sensitivity is because it became a vocal political football that backfired.

Pocahontas has been all but cancelled by the Left due to historical inaccuracies and for not making the English drooling troll monsters. The MAGA Hatters here would watch it just to fawn over Mel Gibson.

Dude, she doesn't believe any of the shite she posts. Just look at it that way and you'll be better off.
