I know nothing about Black Manta, Aquaman, or anything related to their comic book universe.
Based on what I've seen from Aquaman's powers in the cinematic universe, and based on what I just read about Black Manta (the original being a dude with a helmet that can shoot lasers from its eyes), I have a hard time understanding how he would be a formidable foe to Momoa's Aquaman. The photo makes it seem like this version of Black Manta will in fact be just a dude in a helmet, so I'm curious how this ultimately plays out.

aquaman can be badass, sea dragons and the kraken will be in movie. aquaman fought superman and lost however

Actually, the main protagonist is going to be Ocean Master (Aquaman's half brother). Black Manta is probably just going to be a side villain who will probably turn into the main villain of the next movie (if they do another one).

THE coolest thing about Black Manta was that, for a decade, the "Black" was not a racial signifier. We just thought he was "Black" like Green Lantern and Green Arrow were Green, Black Canary was Black, and Red Tornado was Red.
