they started to plant the seeds of the discontent for a good while. It's not hit over the head but it is pretty obvious that the men on the ground disagree with how the situation is being handled. From him talking to his wife and listening to faux-rush.

I agree, I enjoyed it more than interstellar. The score was amazing in my opinion, that's what really set it apart for me.

They don't state when she is narrating this from and she transitions to her day at work when the aliens came. The viewer just assumes that the girl had come and gone already.

Yeah but they aren't very convincing about the reason, and they seemed to take NO ISSUE with blowing up Renner and Adams...which is kind of weird, seems like it was a pretty easy decision DESPITE the fact that the aliens hadn't done anything in particular to make them seem dangerous.

They may be "art" style movies, but they're certainly not immune to trying to save some cash by using real actors instead of adding 30 minutes to the CGI bill.

The gf and I saw it. My Gf didn't want to see an Alien movie I explained to her it wasn't a shootem up alien movie and she agreed to go see it. She and I loved the movie and the story was really good. I like that you really couldn't figure out where the story started or ended time wise. Definitely deserved the great reviews

I liked Interstellar more I think, probably because of the score.
I liked Arrival a lot. I won't argue with people who enjoyed it more than Interstellar. I think Interstellar has more rewatch potential.
FWIW it's my favorite theater movie since Sicario.

The score was amazing. While not part of the official soundtrack, the song at the beginning and end was a damn near perfect inclusion. I had heard it before in a movie Disconnect (2012).

I read the collection of short stories. Stories of your life is by far the best of the bunch. The rest ranges from pretty good to so-so to very weird.

I enjoyed it. I have my problems with the ending, but it is a thoroughly enjoyable movie.

Definitely the best movie of all time. I thought No Country would forever hold that designation but this film was a perfect ten masterpiece. It is the Gold Standard until something else takes it over and I am sorry but I just don't see that as being possible.

Arrival was a solid movie but I walked out of the theater with more questions than I went in with. I do agree that the twist of the movie was very well done but after that, the movie just went downhill.

Entertaining movie and well made... ..hardly a masterpiece, though. Turned out that Louise's visions of Hannah and Hannah's death were all "flash-FORWARDS". The language was sent as a gift so that, supposedly, humans could help the heptapods in 3000 years. How? ...just a small detail that makes little sense but, once "understood" the language "supposedly" allows one to see the future. How? because the line in the movie said so.. ...again no real way to explain. A few awkward moments where they try to get deep with the concept (Adams tells Remmer "I forgot what it's like to be held by you", even though they just met)
The age old problem with all science fiction movies: There's just no way to properly explain the abstract that simply does not exist. If it doesn't exist, there can't be a satisfactory explanation why it does. I really do love sci-fi / fantasy movies like this but they are best taken as lighter entertainment. Otherwise they become dumb really quick if you really try to make any kind of sense out of them.
