How the character was literally created before Trump even ran for office. Just because similarities exist doesn’t mean he’s influenced by Trump. Maybe if Trump wasn’t such an egomaniac then the comparisons wouldn’t exist.

I was watching a Netflix series on the cold War and on multiple occasions they somehow wove trump into the story in a negative manner.

I'm exhausted by non-political shows bringing in real-world politics, sure.
My wife and I used to be huge Doctor Who fans, but when the Christmas special for the 12th Doctor was initially available we didn't continue.
I was seeing some clips of the 13th Doctor and when the Christmas special became available I mentioned there was an episode that had a clear Trump-esque character we tuned out.
Watched Doctor Who for escapism and when there was a moral argument, it's typically a "genocide is bad" or "anger may be constructive but hate rarely is" kind of message. We had no interest in watching a show about a time traveling alien dealing with real world politics.
That being said, if you're seeing Trump stand-ins in literally EVERYTHING then you're probably being hypersensitive to that imagery. I definitely don't see Homelander as a Trump stand-in; I see him as a "What if Superman wasn't raised by wholesome Midwest-American parents but rather by a corporation" scenario.
Honestly, if you're seeing Homelander as a Trump stand-in then that is probably a larger indication of how you see Trump than how the writers do.

Before the showrunner said anything, were you seeing Trump? Or is that a result of him saying that after the fact?
I will point out that while the showrunner references Trump, the actor says that both Trump and Obama influence his performance.

Or how about I don't have the IQ of a potato and I could smell a million miles away who they were going for with the character of Homelander. I'm not an idiot. It's completely obvious to the average person. I watched the Boys, said, "Hm, they sure are making Homelander out to be some Trump type dictator." I looked it up, and BAM, the creator of the show confirms it. Does that make me a genius?
