Their ability to somehow bring their hatred for Donald Trump into it?

2 shows I’m watching right now: the Boys and Succession. Both are very good and I thoroughly enjoy them. But I roll my eyes so hard whenever there’s a clear political turn and, shockingly, it’s left leaning.

Homelander is clearly Trump, and I just finished the episode “America decides” of succession last night. The whole episode was a pathetic “what if” Donald Trump extremism episode that’s a fricking liberal’s wet dream.

I’m over shows that have little to no business having political inserts for the sake of shitting on opposing beliefs. It’s beyond tiresome.

Life imitates art and vice versa…. So no, I don’t really care. I’m not so invested in someone that any negative references to that person has me seething in anger and running to a chat board.

But, I understand your post and that it does bother you and I validate your feelings

TDS is real. It's hard to believe we have gone thus far in this country overall.

In before some snarky lib comes along and posts something like "oh sorry your flying man and ultra strong man super hero tv shows aren't perfectly aligned with your politics" despite the fact that you didn't say that and that your position is perfectly reasonable.

(Actually Barrister pretty much already did that)

The Boys comic is from 2006, I’m not sure Trump was a driving force in the character.

But either way it doesn't bother me most of the time. In a time where our politicians seem to behave more like celebrities than professionals I’m even less surprised.

The Boys and Succession have had political story lines pretty much the whole time they have existed.

Sure. That’s fine. But homelander is literally Donald Trump. And the episode last night of succession was a mirror projection of what the democrats are crying about “what could happen” in today’s America. It’s pathetic.

In what way? Are you talking about when everyone loves him even though he kills a dude on the street?

Democrat characters in the show cried about that. Conservative characters in the show blasted them for it.

One

Two

Here are just 2 examples from the first page of google results. I can continue if you'd like.

Did you watch the episode? The very end of it? Did you notice the tone of it? It sure seemed like hell on earth very soon. I can't imagine how the series will end. Most likely a civil war all because of ATN (fox news) calling an election too early for a mean bad man (Trump). If you dont think that episode was slanted one way, I can't have a serious conversation with you.

I think the show overall hit both sides. Yeah the writers liberal tendencies showed themselves at times but the kids who are limousine liberals are each written as loathsome in different ways.

The show makes a point that the only “serious” person is Logan. He worked his way up from the ground. He’s not a morally righteous person but no one on there is. He is the only one with any sense and any grounding and he’s conservative.

I think that’s as good as you can ask for out of Hollywood

Succession

I think that, as far as modern shows even have the ability, Succession was as fair to both sides as it can be. It was mainly poking fun at rich entitled kids. Roman was, effectively, a hardcore Trump supporter and Shiv was a Bernie sis. Kendall is, for all practical purposes, Hunter Biden.

This is it. When people attach their emotions to a political figure, it's not surprising that they're hypersensitive to any criticism of that political figure.

Did you not click either of the links he provided? The fricking director says it's about Trump. It's the reason Mickey has disappeared from the thread.

I don't know how you soys manage to get up and shill out every day. Your work ethic is admirable.

Politics and current events influencing entertainment isn't new.

Trump was still a Democrat pretending to fire people on TV when the character was created.

Succession as well as The Boys takes stabs at folks across the political spectrum. It appears some people are more sensitive about it than others.

The Boys literally has their AOC look alike as a monster that is infiltrating American politics. It's not remotely exclusive to Trump.
