A Marvel movie is losing gravity in its second weekend atop the box office with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania clocking the worst second frame drop ever for an MCU title at -70% to -72%, while two lower budgeted releases outstrip their projections, we’re talking Universal’s Elizabeth Banks directed genre movie Cocaine Bear and Lionsgate’s Kingdom Story Company faith based title Jesus Revolution respectively open to $21.2M (original projection high teens) and an estimated $14.5M (first projected at high single digits).

Those tepid audience exits and B CinemaScore are certainly impacting Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The second weekend drop here for Ant-Man 3 beats that of Ang Lee’s Hulk (-69.7%), Black Widow (-67.8% which was schackled by a theatrical day-and-date release) and Thor: Love and Thunder‘s -67.7%). The movie is expected to do $30M-$32M this weekend. One could say, ‘Hey, Marvel, gotta make ’em better’, but this Ant-Man threequel saw the best opening ever, and the severe plummet here indicates front-loaded business. That said, there’s no want-to-see for repeat viewing.

The MCU still has a very large and loyal fanbase, that's why they still have impressive openings. But they're losing the general audience. They're just putting out way too much content these days.

It’s too much shite quality tbh. Their only theatrical hit in phase 4 was NWH because bitches always love Spider-Man.

MoM, BP2, AM3 (will wait for D+ release)… mediocre.

But honestly, the only film going experience I’ve had in like two years has been Top Gun. Have felt no real pull for theater movies yet.

So many people saw top gun multiple times too. It was refreshing to have a movie come out and exceed expectations. I really had low hopes for it after it was pushed back two years. Though man that was the right choice b

Actually it is. The MCU has long since needed to get better writers and directors for their films and shows. People aren't just going to blindly show up in droves to watch their films much longer unless it's an established, popular character. Word of mouth sunk this movie and I have a feeling that the Marvels in November will also share the same fate.

GOTG 3 Will do well but next year they have a slate that could see dismal numbers too. Captain America NWO and Thunderbolts could disappoint. Blade and Deadpool should kill it.

I think its time they just focus on the X-Men and get that off the ground.

Nobody really cares about these B-Tier (Outside of Kang) players.

I tend to think the franchise is moving further into territory non-comic fans have no familiarity with.

I didn't read comics at all, but I knew who Iron Man and Captain America were.

Now we're into multiple dimensions and more obscure characters. Doesn't help on top of the quality problems and saturation.

This is killing off fans. Its a "Wait, I spent how much money on tickets and food, only to find out what I witnessed didnt really happen, because it all rebooted in a later film?"

"Eff that"

Its becoming the dream sequence year of Dallas

I think we’re down to seeing Spider-Man and Deadpool in the theatre. And the DC stuff.

Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder have made it so we won't be going to the theater for any of the new Marvel releases. No point in spending good money on shitty movies.

I don’t think it’s too much content. They’ve introduced too many characters and the gap between them showing up again is years. Have to develop the characters. Should have a smaller group.

Also, they need better quality
