Again the scheduling is on you. I walked into Sinners right as the movie started. It’s not that hard to add 15-20 minutes to when you plan on going.

AMC states both on your ticket and when you check out that the movie start time will be 20-25 minutes after the stated start tim
Is it 15 or is it 20? or 25?
Just an added annoyance from an industry that's begging people to come back
my ticket to warfare says 735 but not about the actual start time. Just guessing i got to be there at 750 if I want to avoid ads.
used be Showtime plus 3 or 4 trailers

If you know it will be 20 minutes, at best 10-15 minutes... then why show up on time?
For me, I consider it buffer time to hit the bathroom, get popcorn and drink, etc. With assigned seats, even if I show up and someone is there, I just ask them to move.

Preview length is going to depend on who distributes the movie you're going to see, and what other stuff they're releasing soon, or which other distributor they owe a favor to.
But no matter how many previews there are, culcha is going to show up at least three minutes after the previews end.
AMC is shite. At least Alamo has funny stuff before the trailers start to keep you entertained and not just endless loops of snack bar selling bullshite.

The trailers have been 20 minutes or so for the 30+ years I have been going to movies. Older people have had these same complaints that whole time
.
Also not a fan of the commercials or the Kidman thing, but it doesn't really affect my experience that much. I can spare the five extra minutes of crap. I certainly wouldn't choose to skip a movie over that. Just show up 15 minutes after ticket time, get your drinks, take a piss, and go grab your (now assigned) seat. Not a difficult thing to do

Trailers at the theater get me in the mood to watch a movie though. It's like foreplay.

I'd give Nicole Kidman a 3 minute preview!

The trailers are there to make you want to come back and see more movies. The theaters make money off the commercials so those aren't going away either.

Eh, I usually need that 20 mins to get my crap together.

I’m always finished with my popcorn by the time it starts.

In the early 90s until the early 00s, Cinemark's showtimes were when the actual movie started. All trailers, etc. played before. It was heaven.

There really isn't any pressure to show up early anymore because of reserved seating. Hit your seat right at the showtime and relax for a minute.

It’s great and they will show a lot of obscure (and sometimes downright strange) stuff.
And the feature always starts exactly 15 min after the scheduled start time. Never varies.
Only issue with the one here in Katy is they dont show many of the movies that their website advertises. They had the Pink Floyd Pompeii movie as coming soon…I had to go to AMC in Sugar Land to see it.

On the rare occasions when I do actually consume something at a movie, I feel like it’s an unwritten rule that you can’t consume until your actual movie begins.

Shame what the internet has done to the preview portion of going to the movies.
That used to be as important as the actual movie you were there to see!
