The general audience reviews seem to hate the ending because it doesn’t explain anything, is that true?

Well annihilation is the first book in a series so that might explain why nothing “was explained”

I think I have a pretty good idea of how it ended, but I can see where it might rub some people the wrong way.

I’ll add one thing you cannot deny about this movie whether you like it or not is it is absolutely visually stunning.

I like movies that don’t explain everything. So long as it’s competent and intentional, I’m cool with it. Like people will debate for decades in the last Blade Runner film whether Luv saw herself as the messiah figure or not. And that’s a good thing.

I know you didn’t really care for 2049, but watch this. It turns the film into something totally brilliant once you start to take Luv outside of the context K sees her as: LINK

Just got out. Loved it. Was absolutely beautiful and the music was on point. I followed along with the movie but I have no fricking clue what I just watched.

It all depends on what you mean by "explain anything". Did the ending of 2001 "explain anything"? I'm sure there will be those who dislike it but to me that has to do with your expectations. If you're looking for a cookie cutter film that spoon feeds you, yeah, you'll hate it. In saying that, I'm not trying to down all formulaic genre films because there are many of those I like too. This just ain't that.

Give Alex Garland your money, man. He's earned it.

nope, only for international audiences. Paramount sold international rights to Netflix since they didn't think theyd make a lot of money on it.

you could use a VPN and get another country's netflix to watch it, but Garland said it's made for the big screen
