Seems something like that must have happened

Quite the inconsistency in worldbuilding.

I wouldn't think so. The Imps wrecked Aldhani after the heist from S1.
Wookieepedia:
quote:
The team invaded on the night of a Dhani celebration of The Eye, a natural phenomenon that lit the sky once every three years. Following the heist, every single Aldhani that attended the ceremony and beyond was rounded up and detained
Seeing what they later did to Jedha, Scarif and later Alderaan, simply making a planet uninhabitable would be an easy day at the office.
Unrelated - a video came up in my FB feed from the official SW account where they follow Diego Luna around on his last day filming for S2 of Andor. He was gearing up for the TIE Avenger theft scene. I know they film things all out of order, but it's crazy to think that his last day as Cassian was the first thing we see from him at the beginning of the season.

I replied to your picture of that spot on Coruscant from S1 versus the same spot in S2. It's a cool shot, but the background buildings are almost totally different.

Whoops, my bad. Looks pretty spot on, to me.
Obviously they'd have different backgrounds.
The Imperial Senate Plaza building was pretty trippy to see that it was based on another IRL location (Valencia, Spain):

Are you sure the 2nd shot isnt just a picture someone took and posted of a place used for a scene in the show?
I see people doing that a lot.

The 2025 pic is the real location in London. The upper pic is from the show, obviously.

Not your fault, but it would be nice if the picture showed that because with Andor laid over both images and the dates it really makes it seem like its showing the same location from the show in each season.
Where is that in London?

An area called The Barbican.
Reddit comment:

They've filmed loads of scenes in both seasons in the Barbican. They'll shoot the actors on a walkway then add sci fi elements in the background.
When Kleia walks to meet Vel is a good scene to spot them doing this. Some shots have no CGI background because the Barbican is so fitting.
I think there may have been Ghorman scenes this season at the Guildhall which is nearby the Barbican.

Article from Entertainment Weekly exactly 9 years ago voicing concern about Rogue One reshoots.
I think they'll be fine. How about you?

The Theory Explained
As posted here, the conspiracy theory suggests that Kalkite wasn’t “necessary to complete the Death Star” but part of “a ruse” by Galen Erso to delay its completion. He intentionally sent the Empire off to find and extract this rare mineral to waste their time and contribute to the growing Rebellion.
The combination of Kalkite and Galen makes this theory quite plausible. Kalkite was an underground mineral found on Ghorman in “deep substrate foliated deposits.” This resource could coat reactor lenses and generate “vast amounts of energy” and thus could very well be essential to the Death Star.
quote:
If Galen Erso was smart enough to design the Death Star and plant a fatal flaw in it, then he also knew the capabilities of the Empire. His own treatment would have taught him that lesson. Instead of not recognizing the Empire’s capacity for genocide, he may have overlooked it.
On that basis, the conspiracy theory also raises the disturbing prospect that Erso may have been complicit or at least willing to risk mass casualties on Ghorman. This aspect of his plan is both problematic and fitting.
The problematic side is apparent in the Ghorman Massacre depicted in Episode 8. This massacre has been aptly described as “the second half of ‘Les Misérables,’ when everything goes to hell and bodies start dropping like flies.” That Erso could have accepted this type of devastation in his plan, and the ongoing plundering of the planet, reflects a cold nature to the Rebellion, along with the true heart of the Empire.
Problematic indeed, but fitting for Andor. This series has gone to great lengths to show the complexity and moral ambiguity of the Rebellion. We may think of Luther Rael first in this respect with his willingness to take out Lonni Jung, among others, to keep the Rebellion moving forward.
The Empire Didn't Need Kalkite

Is it true they released Season 3 as a feature film?

Knowing Cassian's backstory made the end of Rogue One put a lump in my throat.
I was very flippant when they announced Andor at first, but I was gladly proven wrong by how powerful the story was.
When you tell a story so well that it enhances your perception of something released 10 years prior, much less almost 50 years for ANH, you know you did some damned fine work.

That interview with the writers was good.
Still surprised Disney allowed this show to be made.
