I feel like if you give Martin Scorsese this script, he could make it a great movie.
Well, it'll likely either win or be first runner up for Best Picture, so I'd say it's pretty great as is. This script was in the right hands.

it was a "very good" movie that could have been great for reasons already stated.

It was great, sorta like The Sting, set in the 70s. Actors were good, especially Bale,
who almost makes me forget about his dickhead Terminator rant.

I don't really think it was supposed to have a ton of suspense.

Just saw it. Bale and Renner were awesome. I did want to add that it was funny that I watched American Psycho recently. The physical differences in Bale between the two movies are incredible.

It was really good, but I was not blown away. I thought it started losing steam towards the middle, but it picked up when De Niro came in.

I am just not a fan of Amy Adams.

Bump.

Loved the movie. Solid acting by all. That Bradley Cooper mocking his FBI counterpart scene was gold. Overall 9 out of 10 for me.

Just watched this film for a second time and I liked it a lot more this time.

Bradley Cooper's character is very likeable. Bale and Renner were great. Amy Adams... wow she was hot. I enjoyed DeNiro's cameo as well. I found Jennifer Lawrence's character to be annoying, but that was the point. Solid film.

Wife and I saw the movie this evening. A little disappointed and overlong, but a quality film nonetheless. Good performances throughout but nothing groundbreaking here. I do like that David O. Russell took the less conspicuous route as director.

And Amy Adams is fine as hell. I think I even felt my wife tensing up during the sexier scenes.

The screener DVD rip is already out for this one, if you know the right places to look.

Loved The Fighter and thought Silver Linings was OK but very overrated, so I wasn't sure what to expect from this one. I thought it was every bit as great as the reviews claim. I thought Renner may have actually been the best of the bunch since, as was mentioned before, he was one of the most sympathetic characters I've seen in a film in quite a while. Great acting all around, great soundtrack, well directed, Amy Adams's tits all over the place, and plenty of laughs. The guy who said he saw the ending coming was full of shite, at least in terms of knowing exactly how it would unfold.

It really is great. Go see it! Funnest and funniest movie of the year. All-star cast performs at all-star level. David O. Russell is quickly becoming one of my favorite directors.

This movie was very "meh" to me but I have only watched the first half, gonna finish the rest tonight so I hope it gets better.

Didn't read all of the posts, but enough of the first coupla pages to see I might be alone in thinking the movie was long, tedious and not very good at all. Would not recommend. Individual characters and acting performances were good, I suppose, but that is what it felt like (each one acting on their own) and it never came together for me. To each his own, I suppose.

(Btw, I didn't like Silver Linings either, so my fault for thinking this might be good.)

I had to go take a dump and missed about 10 minutes. What was the significance of the fake lawyer scene and subsequently belittling Bradley Cooper's involvement in the whole thing?

Just watched this one. It took me about 30-45 minutes before I really got into it but I thought it was a solid film. As others have said Renner gave the best performance IMO. I also didn't know DeNiro had a role so that was a nice surprise, albeit brief. I feel like it could have been more than what it was, but I really enjoyed it. I knew Cooper and Adams(god bless the side boob ) would get out of it somehow but I have it pegged so the ending was great for me. If I had watched sober it may have been more predictable

I can see the argument. I thought Cooper and Bale were great. I just felt so bad for Renner's character and I think he did a great job playing him.

I haven't read the thread, but am I the only one who felt like I was watching a watered down Scorsese movie? I don't mean that in a negative way, the movie was good, but it felt like it didn't hit it's full potential
