These final 3 are strong. I’d be surprised if the Asian doctor doesn’t win but KL looks strong. Good season and the final 3 are all deserving.

Finally got to watch this last episode. Didn't realize there was still going to be another episode, I thought that was going to be the finale.

That episode only covered a few days but I can't believe Juan Pablo's fasting technique is kind of working. He still looks healthy. Craziest thing to me is he is NOT EVEN KEEPING A FIRE GOING. This is insane. The temp is in the teens with 40mph wind gusts and he is in a tent. Earlier in the season he said he wanted to prove he wasn't just a diversity hire, don't worry dude, you've proven that wrong. Hands down one of the most hard core guys to be on the show. I still don't think that strategy can last much longer but I hope so.

Teimojin stopped talking about his girlfriend so he has got to be back in the frontrunner position. All three of these people are really good but just being honest, I'd rather either of the other two to win over him. He's a doctor. The other two actually need the money He's proven that he is no joke and if he wins he will be deserving, but I kind of hope one of the others wins it.

I'm not sure this would work. Alone makes you stay at a base camp for 10 days or so going through fishing/game rules and making sure you know everything that can kill you in the area.

It's pretty amazing that he would do Alone given his profession/situation.

Not only that, most tomato plants from planting seeds to harvesting fruit is around 55-60 days long. Most are either struggling bad, close to being on their way out or already gone by that time.

For sure. Early on you could tell he had some skill and was going to stick around a while. But in the back of my head I was thinking as soon as the weather got bad this dude was going to be like screw it, let me go back to my money. Juan Pablo and Karie Lee probably have a van to go back to.

Watched the intro episode to Frozen. Not sure why they had the Michelle girl come back other than she was kind of entertaining (her weather reporting was pretty good). She lasted like 20 something days and tapped. Not because she was sick or anything like that, she just tapped. There were quite a few other girls that were better contestants than her. I think she is one you might could scratch off the list of potential winners. Could be wrong though.

The show displayed a note that said he's the first contestant to not maintain a fire. He's my favorite contestant in a while, really taking risks and flipping the script on usual strategy.

I like Juan Pablo and T. Karie Lee is OK, but I'd prefer her not to win. My only knock against Juan Pablo was when he shot the weasel. It seemed like he wasn't shooting it to eat it, and regretted doing it. That just didn't sit right with me.

Either way, this has kinda turned in to a starving contest. I wish they could forage and hunt more. I know it has to do with available wildlife, and the time of year. Watching them starve is just boring.

I mean gathering enough fire wood to use daily is probably where the majority of them use the most calories.
If you're sleeping bag is warm enough, you'll be fine, and if you aren't shivering, then i can see where the saving of calories by not maintaining a fire is a smart move.

He's the first person in the history of the show to do it. It's obviously harder than you think

My kids learned this the hard way this summer. They spent an hour gathering wood when we camped in Montana. They figured it would last a long all night, they were sadly mistaken.

If you can pull it off to where you just need fire for cooking it would be a huge advantage.

I've slept in a tent when it was in the teens, and i only had a 20F sleeping bag with a pad that had a good R factor. I was chilly, yet i was using the quilt style sleeping bag. Being a bigger guy and one that moves a lot at night, there's usually always an opening somewhere letting heat out with that style of bag.

These people are bringing big arse sleeping bags that are rated well below 0F. As long as they block the wind with their shelter, i'm sure they are just fine without a fire. I seriously doubt most of them are waking up every so often to keep the fire going. They don't even have that big of an area where their fire is for it to last that long and provide decent heat. They aren't going to wake up every 2 hours to keep it going. On top of that, none of them have shelters that are insulated well enough to hold the heat that small fire is putting out. I mean hell look at Karie Lee's shelter. She's got a whole wall open. Her fire only keeps her warm when she's sitting right in front of it and has her hands out to warm them up.

the point they were making is that he's not keeping his fire going daily, as in all of the other people always have some coals left to start the fire back up and don't have to use their fire starter again. They go to bed with a fire, sleep without stoking it, or maybe doing that once in the middle of the night, and then they start it back up in the morning. They all need a fire constantly, or at least the remnants of a fire so they can boil water to drink, but Juan Pablo doesn't need to do that.

I bet he feels better about not having to inhale smoke constantly as well. Every time they show Tiemojin you can see the smoke coming out the front of his fireplace. it's got to be irritating having to breathe that in every night. I always get headaches from that.

Well, Juan Pablo pulled it off. 78 Days. His fasting strategy worked and it looked like he still had gas left in the tank.

I felt sorry for Karie Lee. Her body just didn't have any energy left.

Dr. T's tap didn't really surprise me. The homesick bug had gotten in his head the last few episodes and it was expected.

This was a good season.

JUAN PABLO!!

I picked him as my sleeper early on. Pretty incredible that fasting and o fire worked out. He hadn't had a fire in 62 days with low teens temp and 40 mph wind at times and I think two weeks or more of fasting. That Mexican stomach that was immune to anything was pretty beneficial. He is one of the better competitors that's been on the show.

I did feel bad for Karie Lee. She was a great competitor as well. Easily one of the top two females to be on the show and better than most men, especially considering her age. She wasn't getting any more food so it just boiled down to who could last the longest mentally or avoid a medical removal. Her kowing that she wasn't going to be killing anything going forward was the breaking point for her.

I didn't want to see either of them lose but I'm happy for Juan Pablo. Overall a very good season.

I cannot get over how they make it that long without decent success fishing or snaring.
I'd force myself out on that ice to fish every day. I don't think my brain would let me cooped up all day every day.

The ability to last all that time on unboiled water is beyond impressive. Juan Pablo earned every red cent.

This reminds me of something Survival Man said on one of his shows. A good rule of thumb is gather firewood until you think you have enough to last for the night. Then gather 5 times that much.

It really is wild how much wood you can burn through in just a few hours

Can’t wait until next season to see if others try to utilize some of his outside of the box strategies.

I was laughing my arse off seeing him drink water to raise his blood pressure.

I’d put him at third after Roland and Jordan in the all time Alone contestants.

Great season!
