Finally got around to watching season 3. We liked it well enough, although the ending was a little too similar to the ending of the final season of squid game…are they insinuating a possible American spinoff?

I didn’t care for the ending. Kinda felt about the same about Squid Game.

I'm currently rewatching S2 in preparation for S3. But all it's making me do it want to rewatch S1 as well.

Binged most of it last night. I have 1 episode left. I don’t hate it but it does feel unnecessary. Games are on the weaker side. Kick the can and the poison train were meh. Zombie was cool but was confusing until the end. The final game with the futures is a slog.

I have a feeling this will be my take as well. I will watch it because I love the show so much. But I suspect I will always view AiB as a 2-season show with a complete arc/story.

Finally getting around to episode one. Haven’t heard a damn thing about this so that doesn’t give me much faith that it’s on par with the first two seasons.

I see that it’s only six episodes? I’m guessing there’s a second part of the season coming later.

Or not.

Finished this over the weekend, and this is pretty much correct:

The new season wasn't bad, per se. But it damn sure didn't make a lot of sense, and as stated previously it was definitely unnecessary.

As weird as it sounds, it was also way more unrealistic than the previous two seasons...and I say that fully aware that it's a fictional show about basically magic games that are played (basically) in purgatory. But they stepped up the level of "WTF" this season for sure, and not in a good way. For example, the whole flood scene t the end was completely ridiculous and took me out of the show a good bit.

AiB is one of my favorite shows ever on NF, but when I recommend it to people, I will tell them to skip out on S3.

Agree to disagree... Like I said previously, I liked the purgatory angle as a way to explain things, but outside of that, it was shite.

Barely made it to the end of Ep 1 and tapped out. A few things bugged me enough to call it and pretend I never saw it.

1. I'll be honest, it's been a while since I saw S2 and I kinda forgot the cast of characters. If I was interested enough, I'd go back and re-watch a couple of eps of S2, but I just don't care.

2. The season, the story, feels forced. I can just imagine the writers scrambling for a conclusion and " what if we say ... " and then a random patchwork of disjointed ideas get stitched together. Nothing about this felt natural.

3. When the one girl suggested she could administer a drug to take the guy back , I was like " Wait, what?? Why??" It's like when Lucas introduced Midi clorians into the Star Wars universe, it wrecked the whole allure of The Force for me. Some things should just say unanswered. This was one of them.

The drug didn’t mystically take them back, it was killing them…. Borderland was the place between life and death, or purgatory.

She was killing them and they had 2 min real world time to beat the games and return to life or if they didn’t, they died.

Yeah, I'm not sitting through a series, or even 1/2 a series (6 eps) to bother with that. Pass.
