Did you see MUD?

Leo still isn't respected by the Academy. Dude couldn't even get a supporting nomination for Django. He gets disrespected for every role by them. I was glad he was like screw you then and didn't even show up this year. Just keep being an awesome actor and banging a new 10 every other week, I ain't mad atcha. 1 bit. Less than a bit.

Actually, if you don't have a man crush on Leo you're probably gay.

The obvious answer to me is Leonardo Dicaprio.

Yeah - I was pretty "meh" on him until I watched The Aviator. Since then, I think he's been consistently B+ or better - with exceptionally strong performances in The Departed, Shutter Island and Inception.

Where before, I would avoid movies with him in the lead (Romeo and Juliet), now I will consider a film (Gatsby) where I might have passed. That's the strongest endorsement I can make.

Pitt is still weak in the lead, but he's gotten much better. His supporting roles, particularly in 12 Monkeys and Fight Club (but also smaller stuff such as True Romance and Burn After Reading) changed my mind on his abilities. Still weak in the lead, although he was solid in Benjamin Button and ETA Moneyball.

Gotta love 12 Monkeys too. A River Runs Through It. Seven. Inglorious Bastards. Probably my two favorite Pitt roles are The Assasination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford and Snatch. Those are both two of my favorite movies in general.

People don't see him that way, but he is a true character actor. He branches out A LOT.

Channing tatum for sure. He was basically in movies just because he was good looking for years. Very average actor originally who has gotten pretty solid.

Are you kidding me? He is literally the worst actor in the world. Literally. The only thing he is good in is Public Enemies and that's just because all he had to do was run through a field and get shot.

Maybe not the lead actor, but Legends of the Fall may be my favorite performance by Pitt.

What role did bale get for being good looking?

His first major role as an adult was American psycho and it is by far his best performance. Actually it's just one of the est performances period

The role calls for Bateman to be good looking

They offered it to pitt, norton, I think dicaprio went apeshit trying to get the part but his publicists wouldn't let him because he had the bubblegum titanic image. I read that bale framed his idea of bateman's psychopathy around how creepy tom cruise was on television

In the end, maybe he did get it due to his looks, but holy shite it is the most underrated performance of all time. Actually, bale has been disappointing to me since he set impossible standards for himself with that movie

Travlota played Vinnie Barbarino & Tony Manero before he got do ANYTHING good.

ETA:

Eastwood did 10 years of bad stuff before he partnered with Leone and got seen. He played the same character (don't think he was really acting) for 15 years, made a some comedies, showed some acting chops in Honkytonk Man and blossomed into a good actor in his 60's. IMDb

Some of these answers don't make sense. Guys like Leo, Damon, and Bale were all legit from the beginning.

Best answer is probably Pitt. Went from being nothing but looks, to a pretty good actor.
