True, but he does get Donald Glover, easily the biggest star power in the Solo film.

Small compromise, but still

I thought for sure in last movie when they had to go to Cantonica to find the code breaker that Lando would be a big part of it. Then at the end he could have been shown with one of the kids that was using the force, and then he could have continued too the next story

Billy Dee running Canto Bite would have actually been awesome, but Benicio Del Toro was not a problem with this movie at all. The casino world stuff was fun until the ridiculous escape/chase/stampede scene with the cringy dialogue.

I would have liked to see Lando visit them in jail and somehow spring them, but in the process get caught helping the rebels and have to flee with them and join them. Benicio del Toro could still be the code-breaker. They could still try to sneak on board the other ship and run that whole sequence.

The weakness of this movie is it felt like a series of set pieces. They had really cool ideas for these awesome epic action sequences, and just tasked their writers with sloppily tieing them together. This results in a very disjointed movie with some straight up weird, rule-breaking, narrative-subverting, rule-breaking, out of place moments and deus ex machina to get the action sequence or the visual they wanted.

Or how about this hypothetical: keep everything the sane, but make Billy Dee be the guy with the Rose lapel. Why would he spring them? Those two random faces were nothing to him.

It would have been a nice homage cameo that would serve as a payoff for the bullshite crush TFA’s Yoda character has for him.

Instead it’s a plot point that is built to, and thrown away.

But oh, Lando’s character just didn’t have a place in the story. Random unused people do. But not him

Donald Glover

Dude is Goofy looking as hell, but I guess I feel bad for him bc no matter how good he does, he will never be as good as Billy Dee
