I'm about 30 in as well. I pray our military and Washington arent as inept as they are in this movie if someone launches a Nuke at us.

Oh they would be. On 9/11 it was apparently a cluster-f. Cheney supposedly had to be made to go into the PEOC. Bush was in Florida. Top officials were reluctant to follow continuity of government plans.

Nobody bothered to tell Putin why we upgraded our defensive posture and were deploying bombers.

If a nuclear attack occurred it would be a complete shitshow and chaos.

First 1/3 of the movie was great. Middle 1/3 was decent. Last 1/3 became a chore because it was redundant and the ending just pissed me off.

What a waste.

Great cast except Elba (who I like). His portrayal of the President didn’t fit.

Once they spent 10+ mins on a basketball camp scene and name dropping Angel Reese over and over, the movie was dead to me.

That entire point could’ve easily started @ his team grabbing him and rushing him to the beast. So many wasted mins there showing us Broll of President idris for no reason other than “girl power! WNBA! Yay”

Yep, we are getting towards the end of the movie and wasting time on that was really frustrating. Knowing the runtime, it was clear at that point what kind of ending we were about to get.

Are we sure this wasn’t an M. Night Shamalamadingdong movie? That shitty ending reminds me of one of his movies.

Watched it yesterday and thought it was terrible. The 1st act was really good, but when you start over in the next act and then start over AGAIN in the last act it was too much.

Not to mention how emotional the acting of the people in charge of shooting down the nuke were and what not. The constant crying and shite, I hope they're not like that IRL. Then they pretty much just gave up on Chicago early on lol not to mention there was NO pay off with the nuke. 1st act had potential and I was locked in, but after that I lost interest.

The first segment was so good, that if it had just ended there it would’ve been a hell of a show.

Can anyone explain why he always looked like he was haggard & look like he was on the verge of collapsing? That had to be intentional, but why? He's not that old. Did he have some underlying health condition that the writers forgot to work into the story??

And I'm sorry, but he did NOT look remotely Presidential. He walked around like an ex-athlete, plodding his way into the basketball arena. Dude needed to stand up straight, walk tall, not like he'd been partying all night before.

To people hoping we don't actually act like this in an emergency, I think the President's line about having everything as a detterant and that its not supposed to happen is why everyone acted the way they did. We are all human, and when faced with extinction, things are not going to go to plan. We can train all we want, but when staring down such an event with no notice, most of us will falter. Hell, look at how we faltered on 9/11, and that was nothing compared to an ICBM/SSBM threat.

I really enjoyed 75% of the movie. The third act was mostly a dud.

Nothing in my post mentioned anything about the ending.

I'd love some experienced insight. What was wrong with it?

Great casting with the exception of Moses Ingram. For some reason her character just seemed forced and really turned me off.

this movie pissed me off and there is no fkin way they would not know where that thing launched from, even from a sub in the middle of the Pacific.

it's like there was 1/3 of a really good movie here and they just stopped there and said "OK, let's just do this 3x but from different POV and call it a day"

Pretty much this tbh.

Maybe it was a dud after all, and the SecDef killed himself for absolutely no reason.

Not THAT'S entertainment!

And we wouldn’t start nuking everyone without at least some attempt to find out who the hell did it. No way the President just sits in Marine One by himself with a Colonel and makes that call.
