Ken Jeong has no problem playing stereotypical characters.

I wanted FARARARA!

These people are so ridiculously racist, it's amazing!

They just turned immigrants from China into Americans with Asian heritage.

The VAST majority of Asians have difficulty pronouncing an "R" due to the differences in languages. There's nothing racist about that whatsoever.

What they did just says, "Asians are stupid, so we have to Americanize them." I'm surprised they didn't dye their hair blond.

It is bad, not because it’s a musical...just because it is Bad! I turned the channel and watched the end of the Return of the Jedi!

This wasn’t 50s Chicago. It is set in 40s rural Indiana.

The diverse group of kids is what irritated me the most about this. The girl and I watched it and it was driving me insane. All the kids were good but the whole country had segregation so there wouldn’t be a 30% minority group in school with the white kids and black families running around everywhere.

For some reason I always thought it was a suburb of Chicago. Maybe it's because he talks about being a Bears' fan in the movie.

Either or...yeah it was a very progressive town.

It's 1940 Indiana. Hammond, Indiana is where the writer grew up.

It is part of the Chicago metro area.

You can look at a map of 1940 Chicago Metro and see the segregation. 90% of black residents lived in 4% of the greater metro area.

There's no #s for Asians because their numbers were so low.

Are people really upset by racial diversity in a musical version of A Christmas Story? Race has frick all to do with the plot and it clearly wasn't trying to be a realistic period piece. I didn't even like it but that's a silly thing to get hung up on.

That's my problem. They changed the plot. They took a classic scene of harmless comedy (Fa Ra Ra), and turned it into political correctness propaganda :-(

Part of me is surprised that "old Ralphie" wasn't played by a woman, explaining that "she" had transgender surgery later in life.

I'm even surprised that they didn't replace the BB gun with something less violent, because... you know... guns are evil and somehow racist when used by a white boy.

Honestly, changing the Fa Ra Ra scene the way they did would be exactly the same as if the dad didn't actually get Ralphie the BB gun, but instead gave him a long talk about how society is safer with fewer guns.

So, SJW’s ruined A Christmas Story and Star Wars in the same weekend. Sucks.

not at all.

I don't think anyone would have a legit complaint at a diverse cast

but you're going to make something less believable when you set it in the 1940s and insist on having that kind of diversity.

Then again, it's not all that believable every time people break out in song
