The Patriot is a complicated movie because I and many others think it’s so bad it’s good. There are a few other films listed so far that are that, but I’m confident those posters know that. They’re infinitely entertaining knowing what they are.
But there are people that actually think the Patriot is an all time great movie. It is pure schlock. It’s great schlock, but it’s schlock nonetheless. It paints the Redcoats into literal Brownshirts. We still remember the Boston Massacre, and 5 people died there. Do you really think we would have forgotten a British colonel putting a hundred people in a church and then burning it with everyone inside? That is something so severe that historians think that act alone would have kept us out of the First World War at best and maybe even supporting Germany at worst. We’d call Brits church burners forever over that.
And that was based on a historical crime by the way. Not a British atrocity, but a Nazi atrocity. A French town was holding an SS officer hostage. They found him, put all the women and children in a barn, and lit it on fire after they shot the legs out from under the men and made them watch, and then they brutally tortured the men to death. That’s what it was based on.
“Burning the church” is one of the 10 most ridiculous and insulting scenes in cinematic history. It’s an awful movie but a very entertaining one. I enjoy it, but it is an awful movie.

Oh the Matrix is a great movie, but it has a big plot hole in it. It’s my top hundred, but that is a massive plot hole.
EDIT: Sorry, thought you were replying to me dissing the Patriot. Cypher needs an accomplice to load him into the Matrix. That’s my point.

Right and I still don’t understand what the god damn plot hole is you keep referencing, so let me ask again, HOW DO YOU MEAN?
ETA: not really a plot hole. Can easily be explained away by some sci fi crap you can think up in 2 seconds. Get outta here with that Reddit bullshite.

The plot hole is who was Cypher’s accomplice? He could not have done this on his own. My best guess is Tank, but that opens a lot of questions from his end.

So when you say Perfect Movie I think Of 2 criteria
1. The movie needs to be good
2. There isn’t a scene you would/could change to make it better. Not a single thing you have to ignore or improve to like it.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
When Harry Met Sally
Young Frankenstein
Deadpool
I’m sure there are more but I cant think of any off the top of my head besides those.
I’ll admit they’re almost all comedies, but I find I’m not a very serious person so it’s difficult to find every part of a drama perfect.

The biggest issue with the matrix is how they explain that the reason they had to make the virtual world shitty is because people would believe in a perfect one.
People are always willing to believe they deserved the good things in their life.

The Matrix is a fantastic film, but it’s not perfect. It’s got its problems but it’s still one of the best movies ever made.
Posted on 4/21/20 at 10:53 pm to OMLandshark
There are lots of movies that are good but really imperfect
The quite place is a really good movie if you don’t think about the fact that they could trick these monsters 30 different ways.
