Why can't all trailers be like that??

Gives you the feel of the movie without giving you story and spoilers.

Looks good.

Somehow the zombies evolved overtime. They got a tank like zombie in the trailer.

They took notes from other projects in the genre. Last of Us and other games have a hierarchy within a creature. Small creatures to big boss creatures.

I noticed the big zombie creature in the trailer out in the woods. That's gonna be a boss creature I'm pretty sure.

Gives the ability to crescendo the action to get to the big boss creature reveals.

Last of Us recognizes 12 levels of cordycep creatures. Kinda cool and keeps it fresh I guess having a different types of monsters.

an iphone with a $30k lens and a $4k gimbal + other misc attachments

If you would see the rig you wouldn't even be able to tell there's an iphone in it. Still cool though that Apple's sensor is that well-regarded. Just goes to show you that with filmmaking, lighting is ultimately the king

ETA:

I undershot my estimate. Cinematographer friend said that that's at least $75k of shite

This new one looks great but exactly how do zombies survive for 28 years?
they aren’t “zombies” ie: reanimated dead. They are infected living

the average lifespan of a living human is 70+ years. Add to that the constant cycle of infection and the cycle in this scenario goes on indefinitely until there are no longer any uninfected. Then the species dies out. The beauty of this set up is there is no chance for a happy ending…we saw that in “weeks”. All it takes is one person infected to destroy everything

Very underrated series considering the unique shots and direction they have taken the Zombie genre

The official synopsis notes, “Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle and Academy Award-nominated writer Alex Garland reunite for 28 Years Later, a terrifying new story set in the world created by 28 Days Later. It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.”

Sony’s tagline for 28 Years Later is, fittingly, “Time didn’t heal anything.” The film hits theaters on June 20, 2025 and will serve as the first part of a 28 Years Later trilogy planned by Boyle and Garland. It also stars Jack O’Connell ?and Alfie Williams.

I watched 28 days later for the first time a week or so ago. I enjoyed the movie, but I didn't really get why it's gotten so much love.

You're watching it from a POV of saturation due to the movie revitalizing the genre entirely.

I was a big zombie fan in high school but you didn't have much legit stuff outside of Italy (Revenge of the Living Dead sucks. There I said it). 28 Days Later brought zombie movies back into the limelight, followed by Snyder's remake of Dawn of the Dead. Then it got way out of control (especially after TWD) and basically every angle of how to use/remake a zombie movie was covered.

I feel like its open was blatantly copied by Walking Dead.

There are not a ton of ways to drop a character into that situation with no knowledge of what is happening other than a coma.

I feel like 28 weeks later gets a lot of hate.
I rewatched it earlier this year and I enjoyed it much more than what I remember of the movie. Unfortunately if you are going into the movie for a pure zombie movie, you will be disappointed.

But I rewatched it with an open mind and it was interesting on the government/military pov. What it takes to keep the area protected by military choices and pov from that.

there was an inevitability about it that took away the suspense...you knew as soon as you saw the re population zone what was going to happen, there was nowhere else for the movie to go. it was still cool/fun/scary to watch though, i liked it quite a bit. where it lost me a little was carlysle's character being fixated on his kids; him chasing them specifically seemed over the top

In the span of 28 years, I'd imagine some sort of religious/cult type thing has grown up around the zombies to keep them going. The bone temple and masked person in a church kind of point towards this.

This is my take. There was religious iconography in Days (“REPENT THE END IS EXTREMELY frickING NIGH” painted in a church, for example) and the soldiers who kept their own infected chained up for the purpose of execution and torture. Makes sense that after the failed attempt to get shite under control in Weeks the fanatical seized the opportunity to imprint their views on it so that you now have Mad Max in Western Europe

IIRC the premise of the first implied that 1) the virus is kind of like rabies on steroids and 2) the infected die out due to starvation, not the actual virus itself. Weeks introduced the concept of asymptomatic carriers which adds to the universe an element of peril of not knowing who is truly infected.
