It matched up with the proper codes they had stored. And it appeared it came straight from the Command Center or whatever they called it.
What was Cross's play going to be if he couldn't get the device back? He had to know the Chinese were after him for balking on delivering it to them once the Harazi family stole it.

And as far as the sub, I know it had all the official stuff, but with an order like that you've got to make sure it's legit before you start WWIII, for exactly the reason that just happened

Well, the sub commander could've called about the order, but then 24 would've lasted 10 shows instead of going 12.

Yeah, season 2 is my favorite as well. But I do love the compactness of this season. It cuts out a lot of the filler crap that other seasons had.

Season 5 was the best IMO. That was just insane. Seasons 1-4 were really, really good. 7 and 8 were solid. 6 was the only "meh" season (terrible by 24 standards, but that still means I semi-enjoyed it
). This season started out in the 7/8 range for me, but since al-Harazi's death, I thought the past two or three episodes have been some of 24's greatest episodes ever. Puts it in that 1-4 camp for me. I can't see anything topping season 5 (that was the first 24 season I ever watched so it has a special place in my heart. I honestly think it's the greatest season of any show in television history. Call me crazy, I don't care at all
