Looks like Mallick film.
yeah very art house
this is going to be more valhalla rising than people expect and it's going to bore people...not that the ones claiming to be fans now will admit it. i predict this movie is going to have a lot of faux praise to avoid feeling like the lone idiot, as the snobs will praise it regardless of whether they enjoy it
i go very back and forth with these movies. refn makes me want to kill puppies sometimes

What does this film have to do with Refn?
Posted on 7/18/15 at 6:05 pm to Fun Bunch
it looks like it's going to be in his style. like i said that trailer makes it look very valhalla rising

I mean to each his own, but I'm not getting that vibe at all.
I'm expecting this to be much more dirty and viscera than his previous workl, and more straightforward than Refn.
If anything I see him channeling his friend Cuaron a bit here.

i'm not talking plot as much as the visual structure of the movie. i predict long shots nature, lots of natural lighting, long cuts, long periods without spoken words, etc. it looks like it's going to be in that mallick/refn mold.
this is going to be one of those movies where you read reviews like "plot and dialogue take a backseat to a story told by the beautiful imagery and the natural settings of the photography of this film." i'll put it this way: i bet they're going to make sure they say "film" and not "movie" in the reviews

quote:Well I mean Birdman was essentially a 2 hour film with no cuts so that's unsurprising. I just think that his besides stunning cinematography, Iñárritu has a different style. I guess we'll see though.

yeah i could be wrong but that's just the vibe i get from the trailer and the shots/camerawork in the trailer
and i'm not saying it's a bad thing, but to most people, it will be (and many will lie about it )

Looks beautiful. I hung out with the guys that did the horse effects and they said Inarritu is a huge douche but he's a genius. Just looks at the world differently

let me be clear
babel is still a complete piece of shite

It was fricking horrible. I loved Amores Perros though
Posted on 7/18/15 at 9:58 pm to Green Chili Tiger
Well, that looks cool as shite.

Babel really is overwrought.
But Birdman and Amores Perros are truly great films.

Babel is a metaphor and intentionally a defining characteristic of the plot. The plot is jumbled up and confusing on purpose. Hence the title "Babel."

Sounds to me by your early review the pacing may be off.

Not sure how anyone can watch that trailer and say it "looks" terrible when clearly the cinematography is beautiful and there isn't enough in the trailer to tell you if the movie will be terrible or not. There really are some dumb MFers on this board.
