Banderas apparently missed out on playing the Spaniard in Gladiator, played by the famously Spanish Russell Crowe to play the Muslim in 13th Warrior. No notes.

It's definitely mid

You using “mid” to describe something tells me all I need to know.

It’s a great and underrated movie. If you would have complained about it not being a good Beowulf adaptation I would have taken your post more seriously.

this is one of those movies my family got into and is just a household classic

I genuinely liked the book too.

The book, Eaters Of The Dead, was pretty entertaining. I recommend it.
I liked The 13th Warrior, also. Anything tying into the legend of Beowulf is awesome.

Anyone who says 13th warrior is mid needs to rewatch the challenge scene

“See to your friend…. He was a brave man”

I can quote this all day

There is so much awesomeness in this movie...and the challenge scene is incredible.

Idk, ive watched it probably 15 times over the years. Once as recently as 3 months ago and i can't tell you much of anything about it other than they fight some scary animal looking bad guys w torches.

Pretty underwhelming. I guess it was just cool back in the day.

I hate to agree with you, but you are right.

Its still one of my favorites, but once the reveal happened, the movie fell off greatly.

although we still got this after the reveal

The Blank Check podcast just did McTiernan and the 13th Warrior was a really good episode.

I listened to this episode based upon your recommendation. It's way too long and they get sidetracked on random unrelated topics.

The only thing I think they added was that there were two sets of dueling re-shoot going on at the same time. One being done by Mc Tiernan and one by Crichton with the actors being forced to travel between the filming units without knowing which re-shoots would be used.

You have to watch this like it’s a Conan movie. Sure it’s a stretch but it’s so badass you don’t care.
