"Good point.

If he did it, he deserves the 6 games. The biggest issue is abusing a woman. A smaller issue I have is with Goodell trying to make a statement with a big name. If Zeke was Joseph Randle I highly doubt it would have been 6 games.

Im sure it doesnt specifically say exposing other womens breast in public in the book, but I am sure that is covered under a topic

NFL officials said in a statement that it investigated Elliott's case thoroughly and determined that he violated the personal conduct policy. The league examined text messages, interviewed more than a dozen witnesses -- including the accuser and Elliott -- and retained medical and legal experts to help Goodell make his decision.
Before disciplining Elliott, the NFL considered the domestic violence allegations from February 2016 and July 2016, as well as a St. Patrick's Day incident this March in which he pulled down a woman's shirt, though that did not factor into the league's decision on discipline.

Goodell has already proven this to be true. He suspended Josh Brown 1 game and he openly admitted to beating his wife.

That depends. This is going to court so the burden will be there. But it doesn't relate to the statute, but the collective bargaining agreement.
Either way, that letter could be used by Elliot in a defamation case against the NFL if he so chose.
Defamation is usually incredibly difficult to prove.

I've changed my mind on the suspension, but I would to see how they got to 6. That seems a little excessive but idk. They are probably expecting to knock it down to 4 from the appeal
Probably nailed it. NFL knows they were going to lose a game or two upon appeal no matter what they hit him with.
The number of people who don't understand the difference of burden of proof between criminal (beyond reasonable doubt) and civil court (clear and convincing evidence) is hilarious. The burden of proof for an employer to suspend and employee is even lower than civil court, but now the NFL likely has to meet the civil definition

This all boils down to Goddell getting on another power trip and trying to save face after investigating someone for 13 months.

To be fair, when these things happen and the woman takes it to civil court, she's judged pretty harshly by those saying she's just seeking money.
Not taking it to civil court causes people to question the validity altogether. It's not an envious situation to find yourself.

Defamation is usually incredibly difficult to prove.
1. Someone made a statement. (100%)
2. That statement was published (100%)
3. The statement caused you injury (100%)
4. The statement was false (debatable)
5. The statement did not fall into a privledged category. (100%)
They would only need to prove by a preponderance of the evidence that Zeke didn't do it.
Defemation isn't easy, but a 4 of the 5 elements are off the table.

I may be in the minority here, but given the facts presented, I have no problems with this.

I don't have faith in the shitty CBA that was signed.
That sounds like a NFLPA union problem, not a NFL office Park Avenue problem.

Considering he's a celebrity, they'd have to prove the statement was made with malice - either a reckless disregard for the truth or the intent to harm.
That's the tough part.

It's different coming from a multi-billion dollar company rather than someone on Facebook.
Makes that not as big of an issue.

EL is protected by the US Constitution for criminal cases. For the NFL, it's the collective bargaining agreement. Go ask players about that one. (Cough) Tom Brady (Cough)
The NFLPA gave Roger Godell ultimate power. Now the NFLPA is shocked!
