The racism aspect of this article is absurd and ridiculous. HOWEVER. One of my complaints with travel ball is the exclusion of poor people + lack of community that rec ball provided. Rec ball brought teammates from across towns, schools etc. Travel ball kills that

Funny how poor black kids from the Dominican Republic can make it to the majors.

This is about travel ball. How many DR kids are playing travel ball?

Basketball excludes white boys that can't jump. They need to lower the goal to 8 ft to make it "inclusive" of everyone.

Travel ball can bring kids together from other towns/cities in the same state or even other states together that would not have otherwise met or known each other.

Just value different things. I dont care about my kid having a pen pal from virginia and have better things to spend money on than traveling every weekend

Obvious observation is obvious. Something that brings people who don't know each other lets people meet new people? That's revolutionary.

Poor people shouldn't be paying for travel ball anyway. Use your money to try to not be poor.

It's a shame so many can't accept the obvious, poor people aren't afforded ALL of the same opportunities as the wealthy.

And that's ok.

For one weekend.

Not really accurate. You're playing from February-June, and for the most part, you play against the same 20-25 teams each tournament. You will most certainly see these people throughout the year, and in subsequent years.

ESPN continues to get more and more committed to the SJW cause every week. It's time we find a different sports news outlet.

How is baseball any different than basketball when it comes to travel/AAU? Baseball isn't that expensive, either
