There's 4 plays in the National Championship Auburn lost to FSU that I would change that would probably all result in Auburn winning. Not the one you think either, the game winning touchdown came on 1st and goal with enough time to run a play for every down.

-4th down conversion FSU made before the half. Auburn was up 21-3 and would have got the ball back near midfield with 3:30 left. Could have potentially went into half up 28-3 instead of 21-10

-FSU kickoff return for TD in the 4th. His whole career Cody Parkey consistently kicked touchbacks, but was supposedly under the weather that game.

-Tre Mason 40 yard TD run with 1:19 left. Beast run, but left too much time on the clock when Auburn wasn't going to be stopped and could have ran out the clock before they scored

-50 yard pass on Florida State's last drive. Caused by blown coverage and missed tackle. Easily preventable. FSU would have had about 30 seconds to cover the last ~55-60 yards

Scott Norwood's field goal is good.

I'm not even a Bills fan but I have always felt terrible for him.

quote:

Ok State makes the field goal to beat Iowa State

This is my answer.

I can't think of anything else that could possibly trump that.

West Virginia converting one of two 4th downs to beat Pitt in 2007 would have also been awesome

didn't Ricardo Louis also drop a sure TD on the first drive of that game?

either he dropped it or Marshall overthrew him.

really would have helped Auburn's 1st half momentum if he had hauled that in. I think despite that miss on the opening drive Auburn led by double digits at halftime.

I think that early miss by Auburn was huge.

Tracy Porter does not pick off Manning in the super bowl and Manning gets his second ring.

Yeah, now that you mention it I believe he did drop one. Such a vivid game in my memory considering I haven't watched it since it was on live. Like another AU poster said earlier in the thread, changing just about any play in that game could result in AU winning.

Also, the very last play of that game when Auburn had the ball back and was doing the desperation lateral play, if you look at the breakdown of that play, Auburn is about 1 missed block from Tre Mason taking that to the house. If everybody stayed in their lanes then Auburn could have had a 3rd miracle finish and a BCSNC

2012 SEC championship where Murray completes pass in bounds, at the 5 yard line, and clock expires for a TD.

We would have crushed ND just as bad as bama in the natty.

Tyrone Prothro snapping his leg in half and burying the exposed bone in the turf of Bryant Denny during the first series of the second half of the Florida game.

He would have had a great pro career instead of working the counter at Regions Bank...
