No.

Irsay should be made of an example just like how Sterling should be. If they have no tolerance for one kind of black mark on their product (the product being the NBA/NFL/any major sport that is in the public eye), they should no tolerance for all black marks.

Sounds like your issue is with the NFL. If you want Isray to be made an example of then take it up with them.

2 wrongs don't make a right.

this, it is not a big deal and will be forgotten in a week

In the context of the NBA, it couldn't be much of a bigger deal.

Take it further than that? Why is there even a concept of "momentum" in a game/series? Why is there an intimidation in playing in certain venues over others?

The degree of response to off the court stuff can and will vary, but it's so fricking stupid to imply that it shouldn't have any effect because "they're being paid a lot of money." That's ridiculous.

Generally speaking, those two are extremists and are always interviewed on a touchy subject like this.

That's because they are both money whores. They do not speak for the entire black race no matter how many shows air them for discussions for race.

How so? You are paid well to do a job, and you have a team relying on you to do that job.

I don't have a problem with either because personally it doesn't affect me directly. With or without them, I still get the NBA and NFL.

Racism is frowned upon by society. Illegal use of drugs/addiction, etc. is also frowned upon by society.

Many people don't like it because it sends a bad message (which it does) esp. coming from the owner.

Doesn't drug use as well?

That can be applied to a lot of jobs but the lack of empathy and basic human compassion exhibited by your thought process is something most people don't apply to their jobs.

Doctors, lawyers, accountants, CEOs have all had allowances made for interference from their personal lives. To suggest athletes playing a game aren't allowed the same measure of basic human emotion borders on ridiculous and maybe even insanity.

I respect your opinion, but disagree. In my opinion, emotions and business do not mix.

It has everything to do with this thread in terms of a players psychological well being when dealing with stressful events.

Are what the Clippers players are dealing with as stressful as losing a loved one? Probably not but every turn they will be questioned by reporters, fans & family about something that has nothing to do with basketball. That will wear on a person mentally. There isn't enough money in the world that can make a human being immune from the same psychological issues everyone else deals with.

Sorry, that's just not a realistic view of the workplace, in my experience and in my opinion.

My guess is that Sterling gets $5MM fine (largest in sports history, i believe) and banned from day-to-day operations for entire 2015 season

Id tell the commissioner to kiss my arse and good luck getting $5MM from me.
