I wonder if the NAACP is still going to give him their life time achievement award.
The L.A. chapter of the NAACP is BY FAR the dumbest collection of individuals ever known to man so it wouldn't surprise me if they do. Don't believe me just watch: LINK

Exactly. The amount of stupid people have to think players wouldn't come to L.A. over DS's assinine views is comical His racist views have been well known for years that didnt stop anyone from taking his paycheck Including Doc Rivers
How racial character is now more publicly known more than ever. Things will change this will affect the organization

Are you implying that his employees shouldn't have a problem with his continued racism just because he's the boss? That's asinine.
Obviously I don't understand what it is like to be black and dealing with racism but like I said before if my boss treated me extremely well and paid me more than anyone else I would not care if he hated my guts.

Easy to say. Not nearly the same in practice.
Being well compensated does not atone for the face of your organization publicly and repeatedly demeaning you and other minorities. That's not ok.

Maybe. They RARELY have to deal with him, I think I read he has only been in the locker room once so its more like Doc and the GM are their bosses.

I am not saying its ok, I just think that I would deal with it if I was treated very well, was very well compensated and got to live where I wanted to. That being said.....I don't know about being black and dealing with racism.

I think the last time Sterling was at practice or in the Locker room was when he brought his mistress there to watch Maggette showering

DS represents them to the public. It's unacceptable.

Pardon my french, but that is a very "house n*gg*r" mentality. The "Massa clothes us, he feeds us, he treats us well, etc." line of thinking that allows behavior like this to go unchecked.

Some folks (black and white) overplay the race card. I realize that. But at the same time that doesn't mean that if and when overt instances of it occur like this situation, it should just be ignored.

If I am Silver I announce him as suspended indefinitely then have my owners vote on whether they want to boot him out.

That's a one way ticket to an antitrust violation lawsuit. Silver is going to have to tread carefully.

That was very well put together.

Do nothing, not a big deal.

I am in NO WAY defending him, I hope you know that my brother!

It is to a certain degree but to me the only color that matters to me while working is green. Also, I don't think comparing NBA players to slaves is a proper analogy but I do understand your line of thinking. If I was a highly principled man looking to make a statement I would probably leave the organization but as long as I am getting paid more than I could make anywhere else and I was treated well personally I think I would stay and be the house honkey

I totally agree its overplayed and in this case Sterling is a racist, there is no doubt. That being said from all accounts he treats his players EXTREMELY well so I don't know what actions should be taken against him. Ya he is a racist but is he really hurting anyone?
I don't want to defend him but I have read he has done A LOT for the inner-city black community, so much so that the NAACP has given him one lifetime achievement award and was planning on giving him another one a few weeks from now. Also, I would bet he is going to do even more for them now that this came out in an attempt to clean up his reputation. From all accounts he has down more good for black people than harm, even though he says they are not equal, so should we let actions speak louder than words in this situation? I don't know the answer to that......

Condemn what he said and let market forces correct the rest. The players can refuse to play if they want to. It'll work itself out.

I know, wasn't trying to imply such

I'm not saying the life of an NBA player is tantamount to slavery. I'm saying ANY working environment represented by an individual of overtly racist ideals is an unacceptable one, regardless of the financial compensation.

Not saying I'd blame you. But I don't think it's the right course of action.

Lots of owners treat their players extremely well. That doesn't give DS a pass for this and other instances of racist feelings.
And as to who he's hurting, that would be the image of his team and the league. And you could very well make the case that his latest shenanigans are to blame for LAC's flat start to game 4, which also hurts the image of GSW as a competitive franchise. It's all very relevant.

If he's done so much good for black people, he should have zero problem with his squeeze consorting with them, posting photos with them, and taking them to games.

This is not a realistic or fair suggestion, IMO.

True, not at this point in time. I'm sure there are plenty of actions they can take though. Public opinion will cause his business to take a hit.
