Pop now needs to trick the Lakers into taking Derozan.

Is there a rule on how long they have to wait to flip Kawhi?

Immedaitely if it is for just one player

So Leonard for Ingram can happen now (Lakers would need to clear cap space)

Leonard for Kuzma, Hart and Deng has to wait 60 days

Depending on the other pieces, what a coup for Toronto.

'If' they can re-sign him. Which is a big 'if'. Spurs get a solid player for 3 years to pair with Lamarcus on the tail end of his career. It's not enough to be a championship contender, but it's probably the best deal the Spurs could get at this point.

Can't believe people are acting like he's a lock to leave Toronto, even after watching what happened with PG.
Toronto isn't OKC, and KL isn't PG. I doubt Toronto holds much hope of keeping him.

No, even if he leaves it was a worthwhile gamble. Derozan isn't worth almost 30 mil a year.

I believe Derozan can opt out after 2 seasons.

It's the best deal not involving the Lakers they can get.

Before Lebron signed the Spurs could have gotten Kuzma, Hart, picks, and a huge trade exception they could have used to pick up a very good player.

he can, but I doubt he opts out of $27M at his age

Yea they are gonna trade him while they are on a 60 win pace in the lowly east on the way to winning the conference.

Yeah they are on the cusp of a rebuild no matter what. Unloading DeRozan’s contract would have been difficult in other circumstances. I think this is a great deal for Toronto since there’s always the outside chance you convince Kawhi to stay

Another example players can point to when they leave their team instead of re-signing in FA. Everybody thought DeRozan wanted to go to LA. He decided to stick it out with his team and they trade him pretty soon thereafter

Derozan is one of the most overrated players in the league.

It seemed like the most spiteful thing possible, which is right up the Spurs alley.

“Oh, you’re trying to force your way to LA? Not only are we not sending you to LA, we’re sending you to a different country. And we’ll get something out of it too”.

I mean, this is the best deal I've seen for Kawhi. The fact that it is Canada is just icing.
