it looses all it's steam when they push it back.

I agree with this. He played really well with the big stack.

Exactly correct.
Plus now they get 3 weeks rest. This tourney should be about who grinds the hardest. Not this cupcake thing where you come back in 3 weeks

I’m looking forward to watching the final table for the first time since ESPN stopped broadcasting the entire main event. I miss those days.

I guess I just feel like no one used to do that, but now it’s done all the time. Could also be because old coverage used to be edited more and wasn’t generally live so maybe it used to be common and I was unaware.
Regardless, it annoys me because it takes so much longer for a hand to get played. I obviously understand not looking at your hole cards until it’s your turn, but once you do… let’s go

I’ve never heard of a player using “he folds too fast” as a tell on another player. If it’s just for sponsors/TV time, it needs to be nipped in the bud by the tournament. It doesn’t need to be speed poker, but needlessly contemplating a hand that you know you’re going to fold is ridiculous, imo.

I think a lot of it is tv time, but mostly a stall technique to give the other tables a chance to bust somebody out and therefore closer to a pay bump.

I loved watching the HORSE championship and the other games especially the 2-7 triple draw tournament.

I get that and it’s a pretty solid strategy that I would likely use myself, but I still think it’s detrimental to drawing viewers when it’s a televised event. I haven’t been able to watch at all, but did the slow folds really only start once it got to the money?

They start near the bubble. Once the money bubble pops, the first few ladders aren't that significant so they usually go away for a while. At some point in the main, the ladders start being a $100k difference which is when it starts back.
Detrimental to drawing viewers but when you're playing for $100ks, that's the last thing you care about. But it's why they started the shot clock in the main abruptly, which was not the correct move IMO.

Yeah fortunately you have to play X hands on most sites to rebuild your time bank so you can't do it hand after hand after hand.

They are really delaying the final table? Dumb.

Yep, it's August 3rd. I took the week off in anticipation of railing for a buddy who cruised the first 3 days but busted about 50 spots before the bubble

Yep they come up with a different scenario every year for the Final Table. Agree dumb

I was never really in it to make money and am probably close to even over the years from tournament play. It was just a hobby for entertainment. I think I got most tired of the people, way too many miserable assholes ruining the games.
I enjoy playing both cash games and tourneys, but you're right, there are some assholes out there. One time I was playing a cash game at all card room, and I was on fire. Winning a lot of pots and getting people to fold late in hands. A guy across the table started bitching to the guy next to him that I wasnt a good player and I was just getting lucky.
I told him "I'll keep getting lucky, and you can keep giving me your money"
I walked out of there with like $800 that night

There seems to be “that guy” at every table, usually bleeding chips/money.

I have the reputation for being tight at my club game, which I fully embrace, because it makes my bluffs so much more successful. People who complain are usually just bad players that play too many hands.
