Because the new breed are a bunch of socially awkward autists who play almost exclusively online.

I just decided to pay up and tossed PokerGO 20 bucks for a month sub. Already cancelled it to be safe.

Ok...but have you heard of this guy named Phil Helmuth? He's as old school as it gets these days.

Do these “poker pros” still boohoo and whine when an opponent “doesn’t play like they are supposed to” ?

Problem is they’re usually right.

Sometimes.

It's not usually the whole story though. Bad beats are part of life if you're actually a winning player.

Zhang seems to have toned it down and plugged most of his leaks, but his bullshite was infinitely more fun to watch a few years ago

IMO, the best way to play is a little off from “the right way”. Some of these guys are so good, they basically know what you have. That a no win proposition

then what's the point of playing if you are supposed to play a certain way all the time?

There’s a reason the same few are always at the top. Though each have their own system and approach

Because it's extremely hard for one thing. The challenge.

Then if you can actually be one of the 1-2% to make actually significant money from the game, the rewards can be quite nice.

As much as I hate it sometimes, it's added a lot of nice things to my life.

Yep. They play the % as well as knowing the correct bets based on the better outcome. Overtime, they will come out ahead but bad beats happen all the time

So interesting thought, after seeing this LINK

Given it's widely accepted that most online sites are infested with bots ran by/in cooperation with it's hosts to scam players, why wouldn't Casinos rig games as well?

Seeing shite like that misdeal above, all you'd need is a handful of card mechanics to be in on it at features and a group of pro's you stake/split profits with. Bring in players that rack up large stacks on legitimate tables, then screw them over on features

Same for cash games. The casino has an unlimited bankroll, pair that with the best players and you'll eventually clean out everyone not in on it in both cash and tournaments over time

And then there's things like having CCTV/RFID to capture hole cards and relaying info to sharps via signaling and/or hidden ear pieces or using marked cards that only those in the know can utilize.

Does anyone have a legit reason why this wouldn't go on at high stakes?

Phil Helmuth does not play optimal poker

The simple reason is they don’t need to…but if they were to rig a game, poker would be very last on that list. Casinos make all their money on everything else, especially slots.

Well NLHE hasn't been solved yet.

The 2 main goals of poker are: (1) Realize the equity you have in hands and (2) Make opponents fold their equity (via bluffing).

More GTO optimal play is typically a way to avoid being exploited, but as play changes the strategies can react, still. You also have to actually play GTO poker. Computers can almost play perfect GTO, but humans haven't shown that ability (yet).

Also with tournaments there is ICM. Here is a recent commentary on ICM by Doug Polk

I love his talk when he's in a hand but when he's not in a hand and still blabbing it's too much. Imagine him and Martin Kabrell on the same table
